Be fair to all involved, dear YYS. The one who wanted to catch her the most at something was me, and that was mostly for the article. Considering she can't go 24 hours without saying something stupid that I can then respond to with one of Wu's own quotes, I think some levity is in order.

Here, let me give an example, since Brianna Wu was nice enough to oblige (as she so often does).


This is a very interesting statement of Brianna's. Would you like to know why?

Because Brianna Wu is big - and I mean really big - on keeping males out of Feminism. Does this remind you of anything? It should. This isn't a new thing for her, but the TL;DR is that Wu's had an ongoing campaign of saying that Gay men were no friends of the Trans community - a statement not unlike those made by Tumblr Trans Activists. But you needn't take my word for it - let's take Wu at her own words. Bolds for emphasis, as ever:

I watched LOGO, our nationwide channel for gay issues, for the first time this morning. I walked away from the experience feeling it was incredibly pandering and solipsistic. It got me thinking about voices in the media and minority rights.

Let me preface this blog by saying that I think gay rights are the preeminent moral issue of our time, the modern equivalent of slavery. It's one of the top three issues I vote on, and I fully intend to go to demonstrate in Denver's gay pride parade in two weeks. It bothers me deeply that 1/10th of America's population are treated like 2nd class citizens.

That said, I think it's an error to see women's issues and gay issues as synonymous.

I don't especially feel that gays are allies when it comes to women. I think that we usually get along well, but I have occasionally felt that gays see us primarily as competition for the penis. When I watch drag queens, I can't help but feel insulted - as if that offensive cartoon is what they think feminine truth is.

That isn't Sophie Labelle speaking, that is Brianna Wu. For the uninitiated, modern trans activists in the SJW community fucking despise gay men. It doesn't make much sense to anyone with logic or reason, but bear in mind we're dealing with a woman who just said that gays see her as "competition for the penis." This is similar to other SJWs who have claimed that Gay Porn is inherently misogynistic:

There are so many issues women have that gay men never have to think about. Our increased health care costs, equal pay issues, access to reproductive health care and the threat of rape and violence. Concordantly, there are many gay issues that don't affect me - I've never had to worry that society didn't approve of my sexuality or marriage rights.

It does help that our enemies are the same, the fundamentalist conservatives that would deny us the right to make our own choices. The lunatic fringe would deny me the right to make choices about my body, and they'd just as quickly send the gays off to sexual reeducation camp. We are united against the patriarchal oppressors that think they know what's best for us.

I'm not going to link to the statistics on this one, because by this point, you should know that I won't cite something without being able to back it up, but men are more raped than women, the gender pay gap is provably a myth, and men are more subject to violence than women are. These are quantifiable facts provable with CDC statistics. It also shows an interesting contrast in that Wu herself sees men as a threat still (whilst being a former male herself).

Wu doesn't have a history of being say, rabidly anti-gay, but she does see them as competition and most-assuredly isn't a fan of them. So once again, another transparency with someone we know quite well. We certainly know of her massive ego, and we know well that she was fine with not telling would-be romantic interests that she was trans (something that every trans advocacy group suggests one does to avoid the trans panic defense). What we're dealing with here is someone whose personal crises trump basic empathy for their fellow human beings, and is nicely bookended by Brianna Wu's litany of disingenous behavior. It's very likely, given this, that Wu falls into the Sophie Labelle camp of being willing to throw the first three letters of LGB under the bus for the sake of the T, regardless of what lip-service she pays to the greater whole.

I agree with everything you've said and I don't need really need to be informed that she's a terrible person, but 90% of this thread is circlejerking over utterly benign shit or obsessing over tweets about what toy her husband bought her and what that means about The State Of Their Relationship or misinterpreting some joke she made. It honestly reads like one of those "Anti-[insert pop star]" twitter accounts where a Katy Perry (or whatever) fan just looks for any excuse to make fun of Lady Gaga (or whatever.) Brianna Wu is genuinely a piece of shit and an egomaniac but you'd really never know it from this thread because the signal to noise ratio is so low.
