What is this nerd shit

EDIT: Cap because I suspect this might change later so I don't want to look completely exceptional

Okay, this is several days late, but I've been RL busy, and I haven't seen anyone else bring it up.

1. Wu had a friend write an article(?) about how the police were ignoring her, with that friend never bothering to ask the police themselves.

2. Police said "lol wut we never heard about this."

3. Wu says "oh I had an employee taking care of that, and they called the wrong people."

Now, Wu has to suddenly come up with some reason for why the most important thing in her life -- all the death threats -- wasn't getting her personal attention. So, all of a sudden, she says she's been working on the many-months-behind-schedule-for-Steam Rev60 a lot. The thing that she said her employees had to be working on because she was doing the so-much-very-necessary speaking about feminism.

Just sayin'.

doesn't john blame everything amiss on his employees? is there any instance of "my bad" with this guy?

But admitting fault would also be admitting that she isn't Wonder Wu, horribly oppressed fighter of the Patriarchy who desperately needs you to save them and greatest software developer of the generation who needs your monetary support to keep her company afloat. She never seems to mention other employees except when she needs to emphasize her own importance. Could you imagine how miserable it must be to work for such a raging egomaniac?

This is where I lose the narrative.

IF he's the best game developer evar! with a huge throng of supportive fans who rabidly await a sequel why does he need constant donations to keep his "game studio" open. If Rev60 was such a great, award winning game which breaks down boundaries why aren't people buying it?

Maybe something in his narrative has broken down...

Wow, Twitter creates fight-or-flight responses! It's a fucking warzone! BriBri better get out of there before she gets shot in the face with some harassment!
Yes brianna you just get a shot of dopamine. This explains why brianna shrivels up and dies away from twitter.... she's had so many shots of twitter dopamine that her brain has lost all it's sensitivity to the neurotransmitter and so when she goes without she acts like a spastic tweaker on a comedown.

They are!

If by "buy" you mean "download en masse because it's freeware."

I actually spoke a bit with the woman who wrote the article. She's well meaning but misguided, not one of Wu's friends. But strangely uninterested in evidence for someone who makes their living as a journalist. I can't show our exchanges but I'll post a little about them when I get home.

Aight, so basically the author is like...she's real reasonable and didn't mind conversing a bit regarding GamerGate even though she's mistaken as hell.

She said that GamerGate was started to help someone (Eron) disseminate revenge porn bout a female developer (Zoe), though she never mentioned any names. This is an interesting claim because it's not even one that the most ardent of Anti-GamerGaters believes or bothers to make.

After linking her to this article, showing that Gawker lost 7 figures due to GamerGate and asking why she still thought it was appropriate to cite Gawker's negative coverage of GamerGate, she said that there was no conflict of interest in Gawker's writing about GamerGate because "A conflict of interest would be if Gawker would stand to get more money from writing negatively about GG, which is not the case." I guess the fact that there isn't a shadowy figure literally handing Gawker money for every negative GamerGate article means there isn't a conflict of interest.

As for the claims that Brianna made in the article - she's just taking Brianna and Frank's word for it. When I asked if she had any evidence that that caller had any connection to GamerGate, she just reiterated that Frank told her it was true, as she wrote in the article. I didn't want to seem like a dick so I didn't press the issue, but obviously that is not "evidence" of any sort.

And for anyone keeping track, Brianna Wu's self-reported death threat count now stands at "hundreds" - up from 87 on April 24th, which represents a massive increase if we assume that "hundreds" means multiple hundreds, so at least 200.

In my last e-mail I sent her a link to the Baphomet thread (Along with the prerequisite darknet warnings) where Brianna was doxxed by people who are clearly anti-GamerGate, which led to the Ohio death threats. I'm very curious as to if she'll respond to it.

Like many of the people that report on these subjects, the most striking thing here is a lack of curiosity and critical thinking. She just doesn't seem interested in doing anything but the most basic and cursory research. There's no passion for the subject so they just regurgitate the first things they find. I spoke with another journalist (Like, a real life journalist, not a video game blogger) who wrote about Wu and didn't know Wu was born a male. Now that fact had no bearing on the article and there's no need to actually include it, but if you're doing the proper research, how do you not encounter that information? It's not a secret. Yet, she was utterly shocked when I mentioned it and started demanding I give proof. But hey, journalism!

I have literal proof that Gawker is paying money to talk shit about Gamergate.

I've posted it in the threads on it a few times. They literally are paying interns to shitpost about it. Would you like links to it?

I'll take it, for sure.

This one's one of the better-known cases of Gawker openly paying people to shitpost against Gamergate:

Not connected to Gawker, but Zoe's infamous for working with other Goons to drum up false-flagging vs. Gamergate as well:

g71LTl6.jpg

This is on top of false-flags by faggots like the GNAA and FYAD.

Yeah, I'd seen these actually. They both just look like third-party bullshit to me. It's as easy to frame Gawker for stuff as it is to frame GamerGate and both these guys are long time trolls.

This is true, except for one solitary logic hole - except for the fact that the ZQ "go get some free games guys" post is still up, as is her retweeting of the same.

This is not an isolated occurrence.

The third-party trolls are predominantly backing the Antis on this one. There's a few on GG's side, but the overpowering majority has a vested interest in simply worsening discourse and allowing the Antis to self-victimize, which, fittingly enough, benefits the Antis. Without getting too deeply into it, a lot of it ties into many prominent antis being Goons and many professed shit-stirrers involved being the same, resulting in them essentially being Antis in everything but name.

There's another factor, too, but it's long so I'm spoilering this bitch for those who are interested.

It doesn't make any goddamned sense for a GG-supporting troll to False Flag the opposition.

First of all, GG self-polices itself (something the Antis virtually never do, as evidenced by the fact that Wu continues to claim fucking Jace Connors as a credible threat), so any revelation that a given thing is false, even from their own side, will likely come from the GGers.

Secondly, and more criticially, there's literally no benefit to False-Flagging the Antis.

False-flagging is only worth something if there's evidence that has to be fabricated, and, indeed, can be obtained no other way. This question has been asked many, many times, but it bears repeating: If harassment and death threats were such a major issue, and were as disruptive and credible as your average Anti claims they are, then why haven't they posted actual cases of such harassment outright? Why not report them to the authorities, whether legal or internet-based?

The reason comes into focus when one starts actually analyzing what your average Anti calls a "harassment tweet." In the case of the Anita ones, for example, the overpowering majority of Sarkeesian harassment/threats are:

A) Coming from throw-away troll accounts.

B) Second only to the throw-away trolls are career shit-stirrers.

C) The ones that aren't A or B Are direct responses to something that Anita herself has said/done that was openly intending to provoke such a response.

Now, I'm gonna go out and post this again, which shows once again how a tiny minority of harassment posts actually come from Gamergate (and the numbers include the false-flags from assholes like Teridax too, just FYI). A simple application of our old friend Occam's Razor (do not introduce hypotheticals to explain a situation when it can be just as easily explained without them) suggests that the reason that the Antis do not post such evidence is because said evidence does not exist in sufficient quantities.

Even with the sheer numbers involved, the Antis do not have sufficient proof they are being harassed and threatened beyond anonymous trolls that have no tangential link to Gamergate. As such, there is an inherent need to False Flag Gamergate, and since we've already proven via multiple sources that GG has been false-flagged repeatedly, that's one side taken care of, bringing us back to possible flags against the Antis.

Flags against individual Anti-GGers notwithstanding (The likes of Arthur Chu/It Ends Tonight most notably), there has been no real false-flagging against the Antis - because the evidence said flagging would be intended to gather isn't remotely necessary. Gamergate already has Game Journos Pro, racist tweets from Leigh Alexander, pro-bullying by Sam Biddle, and a fucking litany of other bits of evidence that essentially allows Gamergate to string up its opposition with its own words and actions. Applying Occam's Razor once again yields the clear-cut response that, barring individual false-flags (@six.four.systems getting a certain prominent Anti to report the infamous Navy Seal copypasta as a credible threat, for example), there won't be a hell of a lot of these directed at the Antis, simply by the very nature of it.
