I'm having a real hard time believing this person lives on the same planet as the rest of us.

I hear this argument a lot, and from people who are not necessarily SJW shitheads either.

The bottom line is, if you're looking for diversity in film, don't bother with Hollywood. Amazingly, people make movies - sometimes in funny languages that are not English! - that are beautiful, empathetic, and, yes, diverse.

To be fair, I wonder how many of these people bitching about the lack of female protagonists and shit in movies actually went out and saw The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo or some such in cinemas.

Because I'm betting not a lot of them did.

It's not that hiring only women, or mostly women, is a bad practice and should not happen.

Here's the last technically current "employee" of Giant Spacekat. Notice how this person seems to have done everything for the game. She hacked away at code, did all the QA, helped the modelers with issues they had and "optimized for mobile platform" (this is bullshit since it plays terribly). She also seems to have left in February once the PC port was finished. You know, the one not released yet.

Something that took me by surprise is her only other job listed was at Zimmer. See, funny thing, this is an industry I'm very familiar with. "Inventory Logistics" in St. Paul means she was a low paid warehouse monkey for an orthopedic distributor.

I'm very curious about maria. It seems as though this chick has done everything, based on some of wu's comments and her linkedin. I find it very curious that she graduated with a BA in CS and appear to have been unemployed for a year. IIRC the economy in the area wasn't so hot in 2004 and since she has a BA with a minor in psych and a high GPA she may have decided to save her GPA by bailing before she finished her upper division courses (This shit gets pretty brutal and it's normal to get very low scores on some of the classes). Most of that shit would have been unimportant for most coding jobs but say she thought her high GPA would get her a job making games, it probably got her interviews but as soon as they asked her an advanced algorithm question she would draw a blank and look bad.

So she doesn't find a job for years and the tech industry takes off and she brushes up her skills and gets a job at spacekat, she's hungry from having worked in a warehouse and won't fail, practically drags the whole team behind her and has no idea she's getting used. But whatever I hope the publicity from gamergate helps her get another gaming gig at a decent place, she's obviously quite talented.

Jesus christ I've seen all this shit playing out from female co-workers but tried to deny it because I figured I was just coloring what I saw with some of my own sexist views. I'm actually shocked it went that bad. She should have fired some people as soon as that shit started and things might have been different, I think she respected these women too much and by the time she would have considered making an example of the heads of us vs them shit had gone too far.

To be fair I see an absolute absence of this behavior from some female co-workers but it's very common, If I had alot of this going on I'd be drug into it eventually too many bad apples will spoil the bunch.

There are some rather nasty implications here especially given that small groups of men working together in the absence of women become so close and supportive you swear they're shoing each other up the ass in the broom closet. Also these environments tend to start fostering the frathouse atmosphere that make some women uncomfortable. Actually the sort of chicks who are unfazed by bikini calendars and who think it's hilarious when guys are whacking each other in the balls are imho the kind least likely to engage in the sort of behavior described in the article.

I will say that she has the most interesting Patreon. The amount of supporters is going up, yet the donations has gone down again. It's like people who cared a lot stopped caring and there are just going to be $1 donators left after a while. She peaked at $3470 with 649 people two weeks ago and it's gone down since then.

I'm fairly certain she was meaning "shattered" in a sarcastic sense. Keep in mind, Wu is the type of person who will try to squeeze blood from a rock, so even if she sells all of twelve copies of Revolution 60 on Steam, she will still say it was success and it is an award-winning title.

All the same, I think she has been slapped by the aGGros enough times that she may be trying to distance herself at least from their faction. First there was the hissy fit between her and Quinn about who was the bigger victim. Then there was the spat between her and Randi about the kickstarter book she's going to be a guest writer in. The of course, there was the tactical nuke that happened when she talked with Wardell. I seriously doubt she'll ever join the GG bandwagon, but when the aGGros get tired of her, which is becoming more and more readily apparent, you can expect Brianna to shirk back away and try to distance herself, but the sad fact is the only reason anyone ever noticed her in the first place was Gamergate. Brianna Wu, her entire public identity, is now dyed forever as a Gamergate creation, no matter how hard she tries to run from this fact.
