I like how much the Rev 60 Lore Book-thing keeps on going on and on about how they are fighting for 'Freedom' and how the Fifth Column are evil because they are the enemies of Freedom and all Chessboard operatives are really keen on the idea of Freedom... And then it carries on to talk about how you should obey orders without question and routinely deceive anyone who isn't a chessboard operative because accountability in democratic systems isn't something Chessboard feels is worth having.
I read it as being written by Chessboard PR, and we know if the game that Chessboard isn't necessarily the nice guys. It's fine that flavor-text for the game be done as the character of the not-necessarily-nice-guy.
. . . this was the freebie flavor-text included in the game, not the "book" that Wu keeps on wanting us to buy, right? Because as some kind of "bonus material" it's insulting.

This is the $5 Revolution 60 Lethologica companion ebook. As far as I know the only material about the game given away for free are the half hour demo, the webpage, and the press release.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but i think Zoe Quinn steers clear of Brianna Wu. They only really interacted in the beginning of #GG and after Zoe's infamous "Uhh seriously?" tweet they haven't interacted at all.

Like Smutley said, this is the book that's barely just less expensive than the game itself. And the same book Wu insisted in a livestreaming of some guy doing his damnedest while playing R60 to not outright call it shit in Wu's presence (not like he was ever on her side, but keeping Wu on was a fucking goldmine there) was necessary reading to understand what the fuck Crimson 09 is up to.
Yes they will whine about absolutely fucking anything. The world is sometimes still so fucked up, corrupt, and backwards just under the surface and these fuckwads talk about "microaggressions" it makes me... ugh it makes me rage and a-log like a champ. So triggering!
Hahaha cause they have identical faces and bodies... the other 2% were actual bratz dolls. I think it's so strange that these are supposed to be disciplined heros made of "the right stuff" but they manage to allow petty infighting between 3 people to jeopardize a mission where the whole world hangs in the balance.
I think she's saying that she doesn't like it that when there is conflict in the workplace bosses try to placate both sides and get everyone back to doing their jobs instead of sitting everyone down and having a seminar where everyone can identify microaggressions and escalate their hatreds for each other until the place becomes hell to show up to every day.
I feel like Wu is the sort of person who will cause an unpleasant argument when you cross her because she fucking loves that shit and everyone else hates it, she doesn't even have to win the argument at that point because even if she loses her bonus and gets a bad review over the incident all of her co-workers will do what she says forever to avoid further unpleasant incidents at work. In order to pull this off you must first identify your boss as a pussy or else otherwise put them in your back pocket because the only smart thing to do is fire someone right away when this happens. If someone can please tell me what the formal name for this behavior is I'd really like to know. She's essentially complaining that sometimes people in the industry do things that interfere with social and emotional manipulation.
How in the world is gamergate an example of men just wanting conflict to be over? Also her dig against bill and ted.. yes, let's not overlook eachother's transgressions and instead concentrate on getting resolution for each and every little problem we have with each other. Yeah that sounds totally unpleasant actually. It sounds like someone has recently refused to play her game and decided they didn't have time for feelings.
Now where was that other daily mail story when I need it?
You know, that one with an all-female company that thought they knew better than what actually worked because vagina? Sounds like it'll be the eventual fate of GiantSpacekat.

I just started reading this crap, and my god, the writing is shit. The designs of the characters take themselves about as seriously as an Austin Powers movie while the writing dolls up the agents of Chessboard like some Mary Sues, then admits they can go crazy pants if they suffer a head injury right afterward and become a massive liability.
And THEY are the secret defenders of America.
Also, how the fuck could the evil shadow lords controlling China build a massive superweapon in high orbit over the US and Wu write a plot where America sits with it thumb up it's ass? I mean, come on, if I were the US, I'd do more than shit my pants if an enemy country put a death ray over my head.
But no, she seriously expects me to believe the US would be so impotent we'd have to trust sexualized Bratz dolls to save the day.
DEAGLE'S FALL focuses on the aftermath of Revolution 60, where it's revealed that Chessboard essentially was keeping the US from doing much of anything via its giant orbital death satellites and essentially has done far more damage to the world than China and Fifth Column were ever capable of - and strongly suggesting the two were in league with one another. Focusing on the trials and trifles of the Desert Eagles, a mercenary group originally hired by the US to target insurgent groups that Chessboard would otherwise disallow the US from pursuing, the adventure follows Commander Stryker and his forces as they attempt to survive in a world where all odds are against them. In a narrow, ash-streaked stretch of arid desert that was once, at some forgotten point, part of the Middle East before the last great war, we follow the exploits of this group as they stumble upon a secret that was never intended to be found - and which might herald the last hope for a world torn apart by armed conflict.
Holy shit. I've worked with people like that when I was an engineer.
Same deal, they only have any power if they know or have someone in their pocket, and even then only if HR doesn't decide to wreck their shit.

I've always been curious as to exactly who she's talking about when she says "men in the industry" and "men in tech" do certain things. Considering she's essentially the boss of her own dev studio she hasn't had to deal with many men (or women) in "tech" or "the industry". At least not in a professional capacity where she wasn't the one employing them. Considering she likes to talk about how Giant SpaceKat is almost totally women then it makes even less sense

Other than the likely pay and/or future of the company? They've done one (bad) game, have a do-nothing boss who seems to like causing conflicts for the sake of it and have probably spent the last several months at the very least just sitting with their thumbs up their asses and probably only ever got paid in the first place with Patreon table scraps?
Giant Spacekat games was founded in 2010 by Brianna Wu with her "friend" she met on Craigslist Amanda Warner. The two of them did next to nothing on the Revolution 60 project other than "brain storm" and "story board" while a bunch of nameless contractors they apparently paid piddled around and developed nothing of note. Eventually the team hired Jenna to develop the combat. Later Maria and Carolyn came in to do all the coding work and redevelop the combat. Their profiles with commentary are below:
There's not much additional to say about Brianna Wu. As has been repeated a hundred times, she is Chris-Chan given unlimited money to realize his dreams. Notice how she says she hires everyone to do everything on the game but she is also CAPABLE of doing everything if she wanted to so don't ask why she isn't okay that's manasking she could do it she just doesn't want to since she has such a highly capable team of women (and frank) and she has to make The Big Decisions. She also loves to race motorcycles which doesn't jive with her shrieking insanity concerning one Mr. Stryker. Plus check out her huge fucking head that takes up 3/4ths of her about page.
As the co-founder of Giant Spacekat, Amanda Warner is one of the three people still listed as an employee of the company. But what exactly does this mean? Amanda does freelance work (for longer than her tenure) and works for YMAA doing logo animations for DVDs. As usual this is conjecture but I think it's safe to say she's an unpaid "employee" by the grace of being friends with Brianna and being the main animator and character modeler for Revolution60.
If you've watched any of my Let's Not Plays of the game, you've seen first hand how they decided to hand animate everything. I wish I could see some of her other modeling and animation works, because she was either hampered by Brianna's terrible character designs or is just an awful modeler and animator. She also handled some employee hiring, "set lighting" (top kek), and working discussing story decisions with the PM (Brianna).
Here's the last technically current "employee" of Giant Spacekat. Notice how this person seems to have done everything for the game. She hacked away at code, did all the QA, helped the modelers with issues they had and "optimized for mobile platform" (this is bullshit since it plays terribly). She also seems to have left in February once the PC port was finished. You know, the one not released yet.
Something that took me by surprise is her only other job listed was at Zimmer. See, funny thing, this is an industry I'm very familiar with. "Inventory Logistics" in St. Paul means she was a low paid warehouse monkey for an orthopedic distributor. I might make a few phone calls to some acquaintances and see if there's anything of note about her departure All my contacts have left the area but it doesn't much matter since honestly she most likely just moved to Boston and got suckered in by that sweet stroke faced smile of Brianna Wu. Zimmer is known for eating people alive so if she got out hey, great job kid, you made it big.
Ironically, the person with the most credentials and experience is the person who has the least amount of contribution on this game. Can you find where Giant Spacekat is on that list? Here's a hint - she left in 2013 after designing the combat system.
We've already explored Carolyn a couple posts ago but I mostly focused on her time at Harmonix. I don't want to place the blame for this game failing on her shoulders but she says she recreated the entire combat system (which was already finished by Jenna) from scratch which was than signed off by Brianna despite what appears to be vehement play tester reactions. What was there to design? Why did they spend an extra year rewriting everything?? This is a simple turn based grid system where players move and attack on timers. She also "expanded the setting [...] for the sequel" which surely means as soon as the PC port is released and the Engineering Game for Baby Girls is released she'll be immediately hired back on. Right..?
Frank apparently isn't allowed to have a linkedin profile so we can't see how he doesn't list Giant Spacekat games under his work history or Brianna will beat him with her giant hands.
edit: broken pictures fixed, some language toned town

It's not the employees fault if they are under qualified, if some rich trust fund baby who clearly has no idea of money wanted to pay me lots to work on an inane pet project I'd be all for it too!
Going to sperg a little bit: Zimmer is a manufacturer of surgical implants - not just a distributor. "Inventory Logistics" should mean someone who actually is in control of warehouse management, not just someone who puts inventory away and such. I know, small differences that don't matter at all, but I thought it warranted clarification.
