The hate group Gamergate exploded in the national consciousness in October when they made claims someone or another blew 5 dudes for awards and favorable reviews that went viral.
You really want that... to be about you?

Nah, Wu will be back online within a day. She's like Tinkerbell, only instead of needing people to believe in her, she needs to be on twitter to exist.

Actually looks kind of like Nicolas Cage with (vaguely?) womanly hair.
That shit's unfortunate, yo.

Wow, Brianna's nut-punching bodyguard elites must be either really lazy or they're in Predator mode (The space alien kind, not the Sarah Butts kind) to allow a doughy Whovian to get that close to the High Priestess.

And if Brianna is out for two weeks, even money says she'll be biding her time using her sockpuppet accounts.

a congresswoman from mass is calling for the FBI to look into gamergate on wu's behalf. I am curious how many more of wu's sockpuppets will be uncovered if they do so.
Katherine Clark is trying to raise money and raise her profile by getting involved in this. I'd bet my next paycheck that she realizes how dumb the whole GG/anti-GG thing is. She's a former prosecutor, so she knows what does and doesn't hold water.

She never ceases to amaze me with her (lack of) humility.
As a nobody who likes writing, the biggest sign of a mediocre writer is assuming your stuff is 'well-written' with this degree of arrogance. A writer tends to be the most brutal critic of their work because they have to be.

Like, for example, I like making fantasy settings in my spare time, usually for my RP group. I like to think I got good at it, but I'm still fucking brutal on them. Like, I have this one that was supposed to be taking something like Dragon Age's generic settings and either inverting them or otherwise skewering a bit- but I ended up hating it for sloppy worldbuilding and becoming the exact thing it was inverting. You never grow as a goddamn writer if you assume the final work is well-written.

Otherwise you get shit like modern Bioware. You're so up your own ass that you fail to realize your work's faults, and absolutely refuse to learn a damn thing. Or, even worse, Wu's own game.

Seriously, I can't think of a nice thing to say about the writing in Rev60, or even the worldbuilding. I'd say that it's like some horrible 14 year old's writing, but I think most 14 year olds would do better.

The fact that so much of R60's setting, characterization and lore is stuck behind the paywall that is Wu's shitty book should be a sign that her writing isn't as perfect as she claims. That's a horrendous structure to build a world around, because it fucks over the consumer. You should make the game's story work on its own merits, and have the book flesh things out for the fans who are interested and want to learn more. Instead, there are things that do not make any sense without reading the book (and even then its poorly explained tripe ripped off from various pop culture). It doesn't seem like Wu put any thought into the world building or characters a all, and just used them as mouthpieces. Every character is so fucking sassy, too, its just grating.

So we have a broken, poorly conceived world that doesn't make sense in the game, we have obnoxious characters who all have Wu's sense of humor, and we have a story that is cliched and uninteresting. If Wu views this nonsense as 'well-written', she is even nuttier than I had thought.

Brianna Wu would be a perfect fit at EA. Isn't Revolution 60 a rip-off of Mass Effect, and isn't EA obsessed with mobile games? I could see EA selling a Revolution 60 looking game as a mobile Mass Effect.

EA's happy, Wu's happy, we all lose.

Thankfully for us, it probably wouldn't happen because much as Chris probably wouldn't give up Sonichu to work for Sega, Wu wouldn't give up Revolution 60.

And suddenly the 'heavy rain meets mass effect' quote Wu likes to throw around makes more sense....

Could Wu be a clever plant by EA so that they now have someone to point at and go "we may be lazy, arrogant and ripoff artists, but at least we aren't Brianna Wu."?

Man for someone who is taking a break from twitter, this girl sure does like to take breaks from her breaks. Commitment is so misogynist!!'
She said she was going to take a two week break and she did. She measures time according to the Oppressed Tranny Feminist (OTF) time zone. The typical male's concept of time is incredibly oppressive and rooted in toxic masculinity so it was essential to create a new, all-inclusive time zone where time is measured on levels of emotion. Two weeks without twitter in the OTF time zone is roughly several minutes without twitter in TMT (Typical Misogyny Time).

Lol she doesn't have money to hire a bunch of bodyguards are you kidding. She might have arranged for some people already attending to walk around with her but now that the press is gone their duty is done. Does she look like someone who is so scared they need a bodyguard?

We all know there was no security detail

Not to mention her assertion that sometimes getting paid to write means she's good at it. We've all seen horribly written articles places they shouldn't appear. It's not like she got published in Time or anything.

Given that the same characters in r60 existed in very different forms over a decade earlier I think they're all just part of some nutty fantasy land that wu retreats to when she's daydreaming. From the ditzy popular college coed when she was in school sperging out to madonna at 3am to kickass space assassin probably after she'd played a bunch of mass effect and what else. Holiday is her tool of fantasy immersion be it to escape her life or insert herself in video games... like stryker. This is why r60 seems to have elements of so many other pieces of media, holiday accquires these elements as she goes through whatever media wu is consuming at the moment.

At least that's my theory I had one of these when I was in my early teens, it's the only way I can explain why she clings to holiday who looks and is named the same even when everything else about her changes.

Her twitter timeout would have gone through except she didn't get a regular stream of people pming her and talking about it like she hoped. She's getting desperate for attention now that it's so easy for even the laziest people to stumble onto irrefutable proof that they will embarrass themselves by associating with her. I think before they would end up over their head and have to stick with her a little while after their initial kneejerk defense of her. Her questionable status with agg means that other full time sjws could lose personal capitol if it's later more unanimously decided they don't like her and there are already a ton of other big personalities they can schmooze up to that don't already have logs of them throwing their pals under the bus.

Without the support of the sjw media machine she's not able to rope well meaning idiots into promoting her.

She couldn't even make it 12 hours away from Twitter. Twelve. Hours. Assuming she slept at least six to eight hours, she pretty much logged on the very second she had a chance. I can't even imagine what sort of sad existence one must have to be this dependent on the attention of random strangers on the Internet. For once, I actually pity Brianna Wu. She's never going to be able to enjoy an "unplugged" moment if she wants to maintain her pathetic existence.

I call that sweet justice

She didn't even last 2 hours, she re tweeted something and replied "yup" to someone asking about her podcast about 2 hours after she 'left'. But I guess I'm just mansplaining or something and those totally don't count somehow.
