A major difference is these people were doing (sometimes) effective things about things that actually mattered, especially when you go back as far as opposing slavery with violence. The Symbionese Liberation Army were basically flat-out terrorists, while the Weather Underground (basically a radical splinter of Students for a Democratic Society) was somewhat more layered.

Meanwhile, tumblrinas are idiots doing absolutely ineffectual shit about stuff that completely doesn't matter, like sperging 24/7 that someone didn't psychically know to call them by a pronoun they invented last Thursday.

This ain't the Stonewall riots.

It's just the natural ebb and flow of things. Progressive extremism, conservative extremism, they come and go. And this is nothing if not precedented. It's just, y'know... a lot stupider.

It could be more of some anthro duck or some other bird. One has to wonder if Wu knows that her characters don't really look human. Her Revolution 60 characters were described looking "rat-faced", no thanks to how their faces were shaped (not to mention, being the same face with some variation in hair and color).

I think she went with that design choice because it's easier than making new entirely new models for each character. That's not misogyny, that's laziness.

It has to do with Gamergate because Wu thinks it does. That's all there is too it. She sees things that aren't there and is more then happy to share those crazy thoughts because to her, any sort of reaction is validation of her suspicions.
