No doubt in two weeks it'll be another two weeks. Then she'll find a whole new area of the game she needs to "improve." One would think after a year and half doing this simple porting job, she'd want to actually get the thing out the door and start making some cash.

Oh. No...no, no. This is the worst thing a "developer" with "40000" followers can say. Thinking this way only means you won't ship the game, period. If you take long breaks you FORGET your own code and asset base, unless you have a team behind you. You can't say this as if it was a good practice. If you want to be a solo developer taking long breaks until the muses come back is a terrible idea. If inspiration comes to you, it'd rather come while you are working. That's plain bad advice.

I think...Wu has no prior experience. Most seasoned "game developers" write practice stuff for kicks and training before they move onto the world of publishing, to accumulate experience and know-how. You also have to fail a bit to know how to do things right.
Wu is basically releasing such practice game for money. While this is not unheard of in the scene, it's annoying to see coming from someone saying things like "I AM A FUCKING GAME DEVELOPER I NEED NO ADVICE".

And this, my friends, is privilege. Wu would be just another egocentric failed indie if not for being a crazy white person who happened to get press for saying bad things about another group of people.

I don't know but I saw a Mary Sue article making the same claims a week or so ago. Same exact thing happened too. They claimed Rey is being under represented in the action figures, posted one pic from a Toys'R'Us that shows a generic action figure pack with no Rey in it, no numbers or anything solid to back up the claim. People in the comments who are collectors replied that this isn't an unusual thing to happen and that Rey was already selling out on Amazon. It's the Mary Sue so logic doesn't actually shine through there but considering Wu is a fan of theirs (and I think has written for them) I would not be surprised if she just saw the article and ran with it.

Also Wu burned a tweet where she blames the lack of Rey dolls on the patriarchy. I mean, fucking seriously?
