I get that transitioning is a hard thing to do, and that it takes years for it to not look bad.

But Brianna Wu really just looks freakish. Her mouth is malformed, like the left side of it higher than the right side of it.

The hair, of course, is just done badly--and its thinning. I have yet to see a picture of Brianna Wu wearing more cosmetics than that badly done red strip in her hair. Couldn't hurt, I guess, as she just looks bad.

Brianna's face doesn't look like she's in her mid 30s; given the dye, the obvious face lift and her head neither being straight on her neck nor lifted well, I'd suggest that looking at just her face she might well look like she's in her 50s or older.

This is what she spent much of her life trying to look like. If she wasn't real lolcow, she'd be a cruel caricature against the causes she claims to support (and in fact exploits for profit). In this case, it's Poetic Justice. She looks like a hag and spent years trying to get that appearance. Now she can live with it for the rest of her life.

Wu resembles her characters because it's her ideal. She may have just been making a joke about how dumb the candy was at her gym but...

I might be one of the only people on kiwi who believes she runs long distances look at the cherub picture where you can see her scars, she is thin with very little pronounced musculature. I've noticed that anorexics have a tendency to run long distances and forgo any sort of nutrition intended to help them recover or perform.

Now not saying she's an anorexic per se but she lost a bunch of weight rapidly prior to her transition, lots of people get fat and then just use straight diet and exercise to lose it all. But then never learn how or why to exercise properly cause they just want to stay thin and in wu's case I can see her enjoying the feeling.
