Pretty sure the games industry is different from video games but ok. Most people experience empathy in video games. Fallout is about as stupid and silly as it gets but most people play as a good guy by default without even thinking about it. Lol it's just too hard to nuke moira brown. I don't see how VR is going to help empathy it's just going to be another place for trolls to play and really I don't want a bunch of maturity, consequence, and conscience dictating my stupid online interactions. I'll be well behaved on facebook the rest of the internet can fuck off.
I think people like wu are threatened by a publicly accessible medium where people can engage them without having to deal with the social consequences of being called a racist or sexist. It leaves them virtually defenseless so wu has to trump up claims that the internet is beating down her door. Of course most of us know that if the internet was actually coming at wu she'd be like everyone else, cocky at first and then freaked out, then she'd eventually give up and stop announcing her presence everywhere she went.
Also I'm just tired of hearing her use the word empathy over and over.. empathy is how con artists and professional victims manipulate their targets. Yes Wu, we know you wish you could erase bad behavior with sob stories but eventually people write you off.
