What are you opinions on GamerGate and Brianna Wu / John Flynt?

Also, that is why she is pushing key note speaking gig while at another event. Key notes are prestigious (though, can be questionable if you know the true attendance numbers.) That being said, it is considered fairly disrespectful to promote another appearance while getting ready to speak THE DAY OF at another event.

To further my point: after speaking last week I was immediately offered a very sweet keynote speaker gig for next year. I did not mention this on social media. It is good to go, but it would have been offensive to the entity holding the conference I was currently at to talk about it beyond the meeting participants themselves.

That's the thing that I love the most about Wu, her entire career has been nothing but good ideas that are executed horribly. She had the idea to be an indie game dev, but she was adamant about having her game be about deformed fuck toys and fired all her staff in a hissyfit, she decided to play the professional victim card, but her assive ego and general ignorance on how actual people act make her a naturally bad liar. Really if someone more competent had been in her exact position, they could actually had made quite a name for themselves. Just goes to show that having the advantage at something doesn't guarantee success.

It would be easy to assume this is the case but it's probably not exactly true. In the past and currently in other countries, women are more represented in tech.
90% of making a tech rockstar is just finding someone motivated when they're a kid and answering questions when they get stuck. It's really that simple. For every young person who finds one of these people there are some greater number who don't... this is a problem only women, teachers, and parents can solve since I would probably avoid any young girl who kept asking for my help over and over. Sorry don't want that noise.
I've also heard boys are more ok getting Cs all through school whereas girls tend to value high grades, which I feel is probably true but I've never heard a good explanation why this may be. Grades are a stupid distraction in CS imho.

John is not a keynote speaker at the Hopper event. He has a habit of claiming to be a keynote when he's not.

It is indicative of the depth of John's delusions and mendacity that he thinks he's anywhere near in the same class as those three people above and repeatedly claims to be. The Hopper event has a lot of heavy hitters.

The only keynote he's ever done was the recent event at MCAD. He played to an empty room, bombed, and didn't even mention that he had the gig. Didn't thank MCAD for the honor. Never promoted the video of it when it posted.
