So Wu's wikipedia article is protected until March 28, 2016...even though it's admitted she's categorized under "low-priority video game articles".

Someone on the "Talk" page defends Wu's self-promotion not needing to be sourced by comparing to Muhammad Ali calling himself "the greatest"; how topical and truly relevant.

The only other bit is some douche insisting Zoe Quinn get an umlaut over the "e" in her name.

Here that, Wu? Even in your own article, Sarkeesy and The Quinnster take precedence over you! Maybe we can add a paragraph on your Peggle prowess... :)

Huh. Without that $10,000 "contribution", she's actually made less in a year than an entry level office worker (in my area at least) from Patreon.

Found the 10K donation. It was from a guy named Lexi. It appears to be his only activity on Patreon.

*EDIT* I think it's a girl, not a guy. Apologies to the forum and to Lexi.

*EDIT* John Flynt gets paid through stripe. I've got the last 4 digits of his Stripe account, and it gets transferred to "BANK OF AMERICA, N.A." In that table, "isCorp" is listed as 0, so he gets paid personally. (Not that it matters much with an S-Corp.)

How Do You Calculate Fees?


Patreon takes 5% and there are additional credit card fees that range from 2-4%.

Credit card fees

Stripe fees (credit card) - 1.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

PayPal fees - 5% + $0.05 per transaction.

Credit card fees are completely dependent on your patrons, their pledge amounts, and their payments. We bulk process all patron pledges to decrease fees. That means if I’m supporting two creators my credit card or PayPal will only be charged one time for all of my pledges. Those fees will then be split among the creators.

Transfer fees

US creators receiving payment via Stripe - $0.25 fee for every deposit.

US creators receiving payment via PayPal - 2% of the amount transferred capped at $1 per deposit.

International creators receiving payment via PayPal - 2% of the amount transferred capped at $20 per deposit.

International creators receiving global bank deposit via Payoneer - $3 transfer fee per deposit

*This does not include any fees associated with converting USD to your native currency.
Patreon actually looks like a really shitty deal for legit creators seeking donations. They take 5% off the top and then charge you the transaction fee on top of that. In the worst case, if every one of your donations is $1 and comes from a Paypal account, you're looking at 15% deducted in fees alone. This doesn't include any state and federal taxes, which in Massachusetts is probably going to amount to at least 25%.
