Man, fuck that shit with the GI EIC. "waaaa, a kid is getting bullied but he has it sooo much better than i dooooo". How fucking selfish of her- a kid is getting bullied, but her bullshit self-martyrism is soooo much more important. She's like Chris, but Chris has more empathy and less of an ego.

Brianna literally expects the entire world to drop whatever they're doing and focus on her martyrdom. She actually got salty that Apple- a multibillion dollar corporation- didn't issue a statement condemning her harassers. She honestly expected them to give a statement about her despite the fact that all she's ever done in relation to them is make a game for the iOS. And Brianna acts like major gaming publications not constantly running articles on her and Anita Sarkeesian means that they're entirely populated by dudebros who hate women.

Brianna Wu is honestly one of the most selfish, egotistical, and self-centered people I've ever seen. She literally never shuts the fuck up about herself; it's always "Me me me me ME." All she ever tweets is variations of "Boo-hoo, I'm so oppressed!" "Look at how cool I am for getting this thing!" or "Look at how brave I am for standing up to those mean GamerGaters, praise me!" She never even mentions her employees, even though they're the ones who made like 90% of Revolution 60. The only time they ever come up is when she brags about "her" game being made entirely by women (sorry, Frank), and even then they're all just lumped together and never mentioned by name. It's like she's incapable of conceiving that the world doesn't revolve around her. For fuck's sake, she thought (and probably still thinks) that 8chan was conceived solely to harass her. Hotwheels had to tell her to get the fuck over herself.

Sorry for the rant but I don't even care. Fuck Brianna Wu. She's just a bad person.

Thanks but no thanks. I am in no position to discuss ethics of video game journalism with my mom now that gender is already the centerpiece of her discussion. It's a losing situation if I try literally anything other than agree 100%. It's my mother.

The reply was wrong anyway, nobody actually cares about Wu, she injected herself into the discussion quite by force. First by making a meme to look edgy & cool, then by samefagging in the resulting thread on /gamergate/ and attempting to post her dox + the random twitter that happened to know that dox, even though The Wu's don't actually own their house and their names are not linked to the address in public records. Nobody even acted on that dox and directly reported the twitter account anyway.

That said you mention it's possibly a lost cause, in which case IDK. I guess you just say "oh yeah your right mom what a bunch of crybabies right?" and that you hope her game sells really well on Steam because it just got greenlit, regardless of people trying to bring her down.

I'm kind of assuming she won't care enough to to dig much more into it, otherwise it could get a little awkward if she goes beyond the very basic news pieces. But good luck all the same

Wow, reading all of this makes me really grateful that my own mother hates professional victims like Brianna regardless of gender. She's also pretty critical of modern feminism. If my mom brought up Brianna Wu and her harassment I'd pretty much only have to say "She's a self-made victim who thrives off the attention that it brings and injects buzzwords everywhere she can to get people to agree with her or risk looking like misogynists."

Damn, I love my mom. Of course, I'm a woman myself, so I can discuss this kind of stuff with my mom without her thinking that I hate women, haha.

I think the recent Tweet where she actually complained that Game Informer covered an 11 year old boy getting bullied shows her to be an incredibly petty individual. Little things like that. People buy into narratives all the time, it really depends on the sort of person you are. Some are smart enough to know you don't buy into anything at first glance, some buy the Daily Mail/watch Fox News and go "Gosh Darn those Benefit Scoungers/Immigrants/Liberals!"- though even smart people can swallow up misinfo or have certain biases.

If your confirmation bias is "all men suck" - then you'll happily roll with it when a news story confirms that, indeed, they do still suck. That's why the professional victim racket works well as it does.

The only problem is the "Cry Wolf" effect, the more people see you playing victim, the less effect it has every time. So someone seeing Wu complain 1st time will think "poor woman!" but then after 3rd time "wait why doesn't she do [x]"

I think that's the professional eternal victim's modus operandi, they try to bait someone who is famous in some way (Or at least more famous than themselves) into replying to them, that way they become famous due to association and it helps them look like even more of a victim. (It also works if the media picks up on the story even if the person being baited doesn't respond)

Of course NOTHING the accused can say will ever appease them and they'll just keep finding ways to shame them and show that the accused are monsters and they (Or the group they affiliate with) are the victim.

Brianna Wu was just on TV here talking about the PAX shit. Sorry for shit-tier quality video. I recorded it on my cell phone and cropped out photos of my family on both sides of the television stand. I really have no opinion on GamerGate or whatever the fuck though. I just think the character designs are funny.

Trying to think of comparisons for what kind of person Wu actually is, the best I can think of is Tawana Brawley, a black teenager who, back in the 80s, became famous by falsely accusing six white men of rape. Al Sharpton also picked up some notoriety championing these bogus claims. These weren't merely unproven claims. They were absolutely fabricated bullshit, and she later was successfully sued for making them up.

This case set back rape victims by a decade by itself. Al Sharpton, in a fit of liberal hypocrisy, completely got away with this and has never uttered so much as a word of apology. So much for that not bearing false witness, Reverend.

Anyway, the comparison is that Wu is someone who seeks fame through association with an otherwise laudable cause, such as stopping sexual abuse, but causes vast damage to it through sociopathic behavior, while perpetually claiming victimhood.

However, rather than one outlandish accusation, Wu repeatedly manufactures smaller things, like the thread on Steam where she attacked herself using sockpuppets to have something to whine about, claiming to pull out of PAX East while never having had a booth there in the first place, or claiming to be terrified of a guy with a plastic knife while at the same time repeatedly taunting him on Twitter.
