40 dollars! Oh dear god, they're going to be eaten alive.

She must be out of her tiny, tiny mind if she thinks Steam users are going to stand for a crappy mobile port being sold as a full price AAA game. How the hell did she come to the conclusion that anybody would play 40 dollars for her 4 hour disco-vomit bonanza?
Because Brianna "Software Engineer and totally not John Walker Flynt" Wu is a serious game dev and Giant SpaceKat a very big force on the game market?

I just had the thought that perhaps that's Brianna's ego talking. Maybe she honestly believes it's that good or worth that much, or perhaps it's because Brianna's been lurking here and mashing F5 when the discussion about Revolution 60 getting the "joke game gift" status on Steam was ongoing. With a price that high, hardly anyone's going to be gifting it as a joke.

But yes, the community is going to have a field day with that. Mobile games of dubious quality get absolutely brutalized. And a mobile game port being sold at the price of a year old big budget release...that forum is getting locked down and never opened.

I'm so fucking excited to spend $0 on this piece of shit game, leave a fun refund comment only John Walker Flynt will see, and then never play this mess.

$40?!
This reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer designs a $80K trainwreck of a car.

Jesus fucking christ, she gets one spineless ass-kisser saying he'd pay $40 for it and that's apparently enough for her. This is going to be gold.

I wish someone (yeah, go ahead an A-Log me) would tweet to Wu: "HURRY UP AND TAKE A SHIT ALREADY!"

Too bad she's apparently not desillusional enough to release it at the insane sum of 40 bucks... THAT would have been the perfect note to go out on.
But seriously, would it have been too much work to make such a template in preparation? Ah, who am I kidding, there was no preparation made for this turd. Johnny Boy only fiddled around with the lights, some terrible new textures and will now shit his game onto Steam.

And I bet his reasoning is something along the lines of: "With releasing this game, noone can deny my status as a game dev... and if people give it bad reviews, I'll just call them Gamergators and milk some attention out of that!"

Edit:
Guys, calm your tits, apparently the 40 Bucks thing is just a template... :heart-empty:

I'll pay 10 bucks to experience the horror for myself, and this saga has provided me with at least that much value of entertainment, but $40 could buy me 10 real games on Steam. You just know she put that price on her "template" to gauge the reactions of what people are willing to pay.

This is the big thing I was waiting for her to screw up. She was doing "playtesting" by issuing private builds that weren't going through the Steam ecosystem, so she is going to have to redo the playtesting now.

You are such a fucking liar, Brianna. I can't think of any other game that was in the release process having an "art template" with an insanely inflated price on it. It's not like Steam has an arbitrary starting price or anything - you put it there.

I don't know man. Paying 10 bucks for that game is like paying for sex with a shaved monkey. Though in all fairness the latter option provides much more enjoyment, I assume.

It's not just the fact that you might end up unfortunate enough to play the game, but it also will haunt you forever in your steam library.

I WAS JUST KIDDING DAD, GEEZE
Pretty much. The price/discount on images in the Steam store is an overlay, so it wasn't actually part of the Revolution 60 banner. The price was most definitely set to $39.99 in a separate little box, so let's see what it changes to (if it does) once the store page goes live.

Can you elaborate a bit on that?

I saw that the Beta Tester Build hasn't been updated in like haf a year and that struck me as odd with all the talk of playtesting.

I'm looking forward to her discovering Gamergate no longer give the tiniest shit about her or her game, and running around desperately trying to manufacture incidents so she can harvest the victimbux. It promises to be one hell of a show.
The game will get shitty reviews. It's a shitty game, it can't get anything else.
And after the overwhelmingly bad reception, Wu will rear her ugly head and go "It's duh gamergators!" and her goons will lap it up in a surprising doublethink effort both knowing the game was shit but still believing her every word.

Gamergate is the boogeyman she will blame to the heat death of the universe, she can't possibly exist without it, seeing how it is what made her (and I use the term loosely) "famous" in the first place.

But what do we care? The game will finally be out on PC and it will get fucked with a cactus six ways from sunday.
And with all the shit Wu tweaked around with the lighting etc. it will be an all new experience, even if we already watched Smutley play the iOS version.

If he does another run, he should go the BugBimbo route, just to see what's different. :heart-full:

With shipping software, you play around with all sorts of iterations of the end product during development.

Periodically during development, and definitely when you are getting near release, you want to put the build through the complete process and test the end product. There are thousands of little things that can go wrong at this point, like a package missing from the build, or a filename being relative instead of hard-coded, or a necessary file only existing on your machine. Does the packaging reorder something?

It's a huge pile of unknown unknowns: you don't even know what the things are that you don't know. So these are steps that should have happened months ago. A professional software developer would know all this.

If Wu has any sense she'll leave it at $39.99 - at least for a bit.

There's bound to be a few sycophants willing to hand over that much money just to show their support for this brave, beautiful game developer and feminist icon.
