Looks like Wu found something else to "implement". Thank the Lord Jaysus for Twitter followers, they suggest things that you can use as en excuse to procrastinate even more. And if all else fails you can redo the lighting entirely!

Edit: You'd think that one of the leading authorities on the Unreal engine would know about Light Shafts. Looking at the documentation on this I'd hazard a guess and say that implementing this would make the game literally unplayable. The already bad optimization in tandem with Light Shafts might just make your PC melt.

Given what we already know, YES, this would make R60 put a gun to it's head.

First, let's go with the floor figure they mention here:

These effects (occlusion and bloom) cost separately, so it is best to only enable the one you want. At 1080p on a 680GTX, occlusion is .5ms and bloom on a single light is .68ms.

Let's assume Wu only goes with occlusion yet overdoes on the light shafts because as well all know, this dumbass never knows how to rein in his excess.

That in mind, the floor figure settings assume a kickass GPU that could easily run many games even now at very high performance at 1080p, but this assumes they are reasonably well optimized by competent people.

Wu's game has huge ass textures, overuse of shaders and lighting effects out the ying yang, and even on a portable system was making the framerate cry even before slathering on all the extra effects.

Scaled up to HD (720p or higher), because Wu is certainly going for this, the stock game will run like dogshit, and based on the most recent information, Powerpoint would run at a smooth 60 PFS by comparison.

Throwing in tons of light rays on tops of the other excess would take an engine already badly optimized and loaded down and cripple it to the point I'd be surprised if a 680GTX would even make for a decent minimum requirements card.

For further perspective, Fallout 4 uses light rays of a similar nature (called "God Rays"), and even many high end users have to disable these because they are performance whores even on PCs with power to burn that have been explicitly customized for gaming.

Wu has a Mac that has been overtaxed even for what it was originally designed to do from years past that he's trying to put this shit on.

So now Wu had another thing to tweak. Good job!

There are things Flynt doesn't know that he doesn't know about releasing on Windows. I'm keeping quiet about them so it will make the failure more spectacular, but each of them would add several person-days to the project, which in Flynt's scheduling world mean another several months.

The thing is, lighting effects are really only meaningful if you're going for realism: sunlight through trees, glowing scifi thingies casting light in a dark environment. A Witcher 3 or Dead Space kind of world, to mention two different styles of realistic light and darkness. They're punishing on performance and don't lend anything at all to the sort of cartoonish world he's building.

It would have made so much more sense (and been both more attractive and easier on the GPU) to go with some kind of deliberate cartoon effect. The big scenes would still be big and (potentially) impressive.

All he's adding is confusing visual noise.

I wonder how SJW cuck Jim Sterling will react to Revolution 60 literally causing his CPU to fizzle and die, if he'll publicize anything negative about a fellow SJW's shit game at all.

Shut the fuck up, John.

Twitter doesn't seem to really give a shit about its so-called "rules" when it's John Flynt involved.
My account is still suspended from the time I got fed up and told her off for being such a bitch to an innocent guy.

This has to be a trap so she can bitch that some MAN dares to MANSPLAIN to her about technical knowledge that of course, the preeminent woman in tech already knows. Then she can post another screenshot of all the Twitter harassment reports that she (or, lol, Natalie) had to file, which is why Rev60 is delayed yet again.

Oh, it is. Check out this tweet:

If you don't solve Brianna Wu's tech problems, then it shows her detractors apparently don't know anything. Yet, if they try to tell her anything, they're mansplaining. Remember the OS X wireless rant?

Yet, this is the same person getting virtual pats on the back for being a UE "expert". It's laughable.

maybe you can't expect strangers to serve you everything you want on a silver platter

Brianna Wu, failure extraordinaire, complains about someone who programmed part of the Unreal engine. Let that sink in please...

I'm sure they care immensly.

Nice double-at btw.
