I like how she's implying that the no firearms sign is there specifically because it's a center of women's studies and because of misogynistic death threats or whatever. Like it's a university in the deep South, obviously those signs would be everywhere since a sizable chunk of the population carries guns all the time, it's doubtful that sign is anything special.

That's real professional, slagging off your hosts.
If you ask me, it's the opposite of "depressing" that even some backwoods Alabama micro-college has a women's center, and yes, keeps it safe from guns in a highly pro-gun state. John's making an ass of himself as usual.

What does John want to see, a sign that says bring in all the guns you like?

John's probably depressed over the gun silhouette on the sign being what appears to be a 1911. Based on his comments about Glocks and field stripping them it's clear where his loyalties lie. ;)
I bet he has a "No Deagles" sign on his "office" wall. :deagle:

That 2013 picture doesn't have the gun sign.
Just another incident of professional moron and wet sock John Walker Flynt - "world's biggest political junkie" and "frequent world traveler" - being clueless about the law in Alabama, which is the same as in many states. Then based on that ignorance, trying to scare and depress his followers by implying there's some sinister connection between gun violence and feminism.

Firearms signs for new gun law will be ready at noon Friday, Etowah Sheriff says

August 1, 2013

Signs will be available for businesses, churches and schools beginning tomorrow at noon at the Etowah County Sheriff's Office notifying whether the owners will allow firearms on their property.

The signs, available for free, are in accordance with Alabama's new gun law, which takes effect today.

One sign advertises that no firearms are allowed, while another says they are permitted. Entrekin said at a series of seminars on the new law last month that the signs would be available around the first of this month.

The signs are meant to be easily to spot and uniform.

The new law allows property owners to specify if they do not wish to have firearms on their property.

The new law, sponsored by Sen. Scott Beason, R-Gardendale, was designed to clarify Alabama's concealed- and open-carry laws and ensure law-abiding citizens have access to guns.

The picture on Google is from April 2013, before these signs were available. I would make a wild guess the sign went up as soon as they were made available, for free, by the state.

I don't usually have much good to say about Alabama law, but this strikes me as an entirely reasonable accommodation to the legal environment there.

Trust John to be an utter bitch about it.

Got to wonder what UNA would've made of a woman who really should be touring and talking about how awesome and empowering it is to work for the games industry, about how she has made and launched a game and that by encouraging participation they can change the world...

And instead up comes, twitching and snarling away, gut barely held in by a leather belt and slowly going bald is Brianna. She will stand there, in the room, barely anyone there, screeching about how she was harassed, a rerun of the cover story we've heard told a thousand times before.

Slowly, the light of interest and hope will die in their eyes as this thing wears on. The narrative will grip that the Games industry is dangerous for women to go into and those who may have flirted with the idea in UNA will decide not to, and a genuinely good game idea died on the lecture of a snarling, ticking, pathalogical liar.

Just so Wu can pretend to be important, she will help forward that very same false narrative that means women in STEM will get lower and lower.

God, what an utter bitch.

Worse, they'll worry that Wu's barely human appearance was actually caused by joining the games industry. Wu was born a beautiful girl and like Gollum, the games industry turned her into this strange, snarling creature with an assortment of neurological dysfunctions.

That's Social Justice for you. It's less about people seeking empowerment and growth and more about people eliminating anybody they consider an obstacle to their ultimate goals of power. A lot of REAL success stories in regards to ANYBODY (but especially in regards to women and minorities) have been because the people involved were incredibly ambitious and talented, not because they were denied their wants and needs by nebulous evils like "white people" or "meeeen". Tina Fey, despite her SJW tendencies as of late, got to where she was today because she fuckin' worked her ass off for it. Brianna Wu got to her insubstantial position because she wanted to play politics, not pursue her passion.

There are two kinds of people:
The first works out, so when the time comes, they can run a marathon from front to back.
The second type of people, would love to run a marathon but is too lazy to work out for it. Actually they most likely want to run a marathon for the bragging rights. These people complain that they don't have the right shoes, that other people have better trainers or people to train with, that 26 miles is way too long, that their knees ache, that all the other people have way better legs than them and that every one else should wear extra weights so they don't come in last....

jumping from complaining about rape to talking about The Expanse in six tweets is so perfectly WuWu I almost don't want to know what those three intervening tweets are.
