Jesus F. Christ, this is just shameful. Instead of replying with a list of languages, she goes like "you might be setting me up so not gonna answer, fuck you". Of course being Slashdot I assume no one questioned this highly suspicious behavior (I used to read the news there, but it went to hell as soon as they drank that socjus koolaid).

See, game development isn't really a varied universe of languages, it's a bit limited by library and system availability. The easiest, most credible answer would be something like C, C++ and maybe C#/.NET for low-level languages, and something like Lua or Python for high-level ones (note for non-programmers, "low-level" means something closer to final machine code and is harder to learn than high-level, that is more abstracted for ease of use and easier to learn but slower in performance). Then go on about common libraries such as DirectX, OpenGL or SDL.

The thing is that those languages are extremely common and easy to get to. The world of gamedev doesn't go very exotic. A liar can just google a list of languages and get those easy answers in seconds with no risk, or a GitHub user can access this list https://github.com/showcases/programming-languages and just pick some from there.

Let me put stress on this: Wu could have used that answer to reinforce the lie and score some credibility for his story of being a real gamedev, and instead refused to do so just to be a dick. I can't even begin to describe how mind-boggling this is.

What's even more asinine is that she could have answered with one of the languages used by the Unreal Engine and that would have been simple enough.

....Unless that woman happens to be Jamie Walton, apparently, in which case lobbying attacks against an advocate against sexual exploitation is fair game, because she makes Brianna Wu realize how fucking irrelevant she is.

Nobody who actually knew programming languages would have any problem listing them. Why would they?

The only person who could be "trapped" by answering that question is what Wu is, a giant fucking fraud, a liar who can't program any more than he can give birth to a child.

What's even more asinine is that she could have answered with one of the languages used by the Unreal Engine and that would have been simple enough.

I wouldn't be amazed if Wu doesn't even know that. I bet all Johnny Boy can do is open it up and take a screen shot of some random assets.

I'm pretty sure the reason that Revolution 60 hasn't been released yet is because John doesn't know what he's doing and has fucked it up massively while giving it skittle vomit lights.

Last summer, she answered a couple of reader questions on Slashdot. This was one of those she deigned to reply to:

Her answer (emphasis mine):

Make of that what you will.
Nice paranoia, John.
Instead of answering something that not only might help someone else, but will also strengthen your lie of being a game developer, you decide to blame the person of harassment and stroke your own ego over your talentless shit.
Then you claim to have code on Github, but don't provide a link to it because "WIMMENZ ENGINEERS ARE HERASSED BCAUSE OF DER CODE" claiming it to be under a gender-neutral pseudonym because we all know that everyone on Github gives a shit about gender.

Nah, in reality you don't know any code and fired the only woman who DID know how to code on your team, nor did you make a "code" joke on Twitter.

The github thing is such a transparent lie that you'd have to be an imbecile to believe it. Before late 2014 she had exactly zero reasons to think that she'd get excess attention for her code on github. What's more, every single account she's ever made for any sort of social setting has been under the name "Spacekatgal."

There is in fact a spacekatgal github account which, given the date it was created, is almost certainly hers. It has never submitted a bug report, started or cloned a repository, published a gist or submitted a pull request.

On the balance of probabilities, I'd say Wu has only a rudimentary grasp of programming if any at all. She doesn't talk about code or programming languages ever, even in the context of challenges she's facing. She had to hire a novice programmer to do even the simple unreal script stuff that R60 required, and she was relegated to the status of gopher and general glad-hander on her own development team. Maybe she's picked up enough unrealscript over the years to be able to do small modifications to the work Maria already did, but there's no evidence even of that.

Null disabled that in order to encourage people to archive tweets before they're deleted.

That's an incredible pain in the ass. People can archive in tweetsave and just paste the urls in here. Making people take screenshots just means it won't happen at all.

No john the playbook is a shitty tablet that blackberry did and everyone hated it

jokes apart is obviously that is not working because you and your friends cant shut the hell up, we need to improve the Playbook TM

I know plenty of women that code both as a hobby and as a profession, and no one gives them any "harassment", and you can actually discuss code and tools with them without SJWisms being thrown in or fearing a "you mansplainer!" accusation. They are respectable because they act professionally and legitimately care about their work. They surely would give advice if asked.

There is one fundamental difference with those people and frauds like Wu and the legion of crazy tranny gamedevs. The former let their work speak for itself, the later put focus on their identity and politics instead. There's a reason they are so opposed to the "meritocracy", you know. They don't want their work to be enjoyed or used or even profitable, they just want to use it as a way to promote themselves as individuals.

What was her code joke again? I can't remember the details, just that even I (some one with very little knowledge of coding) could tell it was stupid.
Maybe it was when he copy-pasted some random letters and numbers that apparently got some woman death threats on twitter.

This, I think?
Edit: Shit, Ninja'd by Sarcastic Username!

The closest Wu has come to anything resembling "programming" is some tweaks to lighting that, as far as I can tell, just made it look even shittier.

Big time :powerlevel:

Both my sisters are studying engineering in college and their classes are 95% male. I asked them if they ever felt discriminated against because of their gender and they said no everyone was really nice. I know that's hugely anecdotal but I'm convinced this "women in tech harassment" crap Wu and others are pushing is largely bullshit.

People still use #winning? Even after the AIDs?

@Ruin, it feels like they're pushing the 80's I DON'T NEED NO MAN! craze. Back then Wu would've been able to pass better wearing a gaudy black and yellow power suit. She wouldn't even need to keep the shoulder pads in.

Wu can't program. It's why she has to be incredibly vague about what she actually does. Can't tout yourself as a "woman in tech" if your only experience in tech is hiring other people to do work you can't do.

Would be funny for someone to ask her during an interview or panel a basic programming question and see her flail away.
