Also an interesting contrast to Idris Elba's own attitude where he recently came out saying we shouldn't all be so darn racist about who applies for what role, when in reality he just had a shitty agent which kept finding him stereotypical 'black' parts. I looked around and it's entirely possible that if you were just rotten in some subject you could just get stuck forever. It's almost impossible to imagine failing over and over especially if you've done it once already and have tutors and a bunch of shit for your 2nd try though.
There is so much missing story. I think wu started the animation studio as a school project. Then got sidetracked blowing her trust fund. Had two friends who gave her money and somehow were ok with the fake girlfriend on the team...then wu in DC... there is at least a whole trent lott and rehab saga that we only know exists but we don't know anything else.

All a few years before Youtube was a thing where Bria/John would've had an outlet to throw the animation without external controls anyway.

The earliest Socially Unconscious strips focused on basically outright insulting the faculty, school, sororities in general, and later, the entire comic readership. The Millsaps Purple and White retired the strip, or, more accurately, they encouraged John to work on something not-comics, and John started doing editorial work whilst he also, convinced his shitty product was 24-karat gold, and that he was entitled to his comic having a fanbase due to divine mandate, kept trying to pitch the damned thing. No one cared.

Wu had an internship with Trent Lott one summer before she started her animation studio. The studio was started with her parents' money, her hangers on merely leached off her and (allegedly) did no work. After her animation studio failed she moved to DC for 6 months or so, living in an apartment her family owned. I speculate that she wanted to get some kind of job in politics but failed. She was addicted to prescription drugs at the time, and eventually her parents dragged her off to rehab. After that she went back to Ole Miss, got in to a fight with her parents (probably about being a tranny), dropped out again and hooked up with Frank who she's still parasiting to this day.
