:powerlevel: I went to one college twice. when I got my degree it said I was there from 1998-2003, but I didn't attend in 1999-2000 so I wouldn't read too much into that.
Even ten years don't need to be a big deal. Some people have to keep working in a more or less full-time job, raise kids or have some other responsibility, that makes it impossible to get their education done in any normal amount of time. I know self-employed people who juggle their education and job, with giving their job the priority - because, you know, having food to eat is nice and all.
Perhaps Wu did the same, it's not like Wu has rich parents, who paid for everything, so she had the possibility to dedicate most of her time to her education and... oh, wait a second...
That's concept (?) art of what looks to be one of the Citadels club/markets areas or on Omega Relay which was a place for outlaws. It has a right to look like a bustling clusterfuck of neon where every business is trying to get your attention.
Wu's screenshot is of.. a corridor with maybe some.. server things? Wu is missing the point of lighting it. It isn't just supposed to make something look good but when used properly it's supposed to convey some degree of an environment's use or purpose. If you put a desk and a chair into a metallic room with no windows and add all these effects it reveals nothing about the purpose of the room. Add florescent lighting? Boom. It looks cold and dead, like an office for some paper pusher in the future and conveys a degree of hopelessness.
Wu is imitating something and not knowing WHY it worked in the first place.
I like how she pretends to get shit done when she doesn't work in human resources... If people want to go over their employers head, a third party can step in to evaluate. (Or a fourth if the third is too chummy with the employer)
Not everything is a knee-jerk reaction to hit the streets in protest... The ones that are being marginalized in any way need to speak up and go through channels. Not depend on an addle-brained turtle-harpy with some weird illusions of grandeur.
How long until she says she's worked in human resources? Because she can't even manage a handful of people without alienating them.
And I'll promise that I will end world hunger, just let me write some angry emails to the UN and complain that people are starving all over the world, that will do the trick.
Wu is doing nothing, she is just screaming at an issue and tries to get recognition for some social change she probably doesn't care about. She's like a dog left home alone, yapping all day in the hope that this will make its owners come back from work. It's like she really believes her word has any impact in that matter.
Imagine a society has a so advanced medicine, that there are two things possible:
1) There is a pill that cures gender dysphoria.
2) There is a 'gender treatment', that is able to change your body right down to the chromosomes, turning you into a 'fully functional' biological male or female, complete with functioning testicles/ovaries and what not.
The logical conclusion would be that transgender people wouldn't exist anymore.
"I can't work like this! I am not a man, I am woman, but no one accepts me as such!"
"Well Boohoo! Then pop a pill, or take the week off and get to the doctor, dammit. I can't stand your whining anymore. Also, don't get ballon-tits or I'll have to listen to you whining about back pains all year."
This upsets my autism so badly. Do something with those damn shelf frames. A real texture. Some lighting proprieties to make them look painted or metallic. Anything. They look like they came out of a windows 95 screensaver.
