How does someone who has no formal education in engineering explain complex concepts to wide audiences? If you don't understand how something works to a certain degree of detail then the layman's explanation will be uninformed and incomplete as well. Maybe they're "jumping in" because you are wrong!

1st question: the guy asks Wu about online harassment vis-a-vis libel and slander, and Wu replies with the utter non-sequitur: "You know, something not a lot of people know about me is that my background is in journalism..."

She literally can't help it.

It's like, when she's around genuine journalists, she has to let them know she's just as smart as they are. She did the same thing with Pakman.
