To be fair, I've heard a lot of YouTube atheists refer to god as a "Magic Man in the Sky". It's just an appeal to absurdity, and a poor debate tactic, but pretty common from people who want to sound clever and build their worldview on what they've heard rather than thinking about things themselves.
 
Flynt grew up in Mississippi which is 3/4 Baptist and while she shed most aspects of Baptist-ism, she probably kept the anti-Catholic parts.
