Oh, it's always the same. Every election in my lifetime, youngs don't vote, olds do. The older the demographic, the more reliably they vote.

These young people have just learned an important thing about the democratic process: if you care, turn up and vote.

It's a lesson every generation fails to learn at first. There really needs to be something exceptional to get the youth interested in the vote, something that will directly affect them, without the insulating layers of boring, meaningless bureaucracy, something harsh and immediate. The last era the youth vote was essential was probably during the Cold War when the prospect of war and the draft was an ever present possibility. Along with the shadow of nuclear annihilation, something that has never really gone away, but seems much more distant today. There are a hundred better things to do than keep up with the byzantine schemes, endless webs of lies and quid pro quo nepotism of politics.

Do you honestly think that physical attacks on minorities are going to be an issue because the UK voted to leave the EU?

No really, just pointing the hypocresy of being outright dismissve of this kind of stuff like people in the "regressive media"

This is the same sort of nonsense that's put about every time there is a muslim terrorist attack by the regressive media, the endless worry about the mythical racist "backlash" towards innocent muslims that somehow never seems to materialize, and is focused on just long enough for the event to fade into the background, and then never spoken of again, until the next time it's needed. If there hasn't been fucking retarded racist lynch mobs on the streets hunting minorities after some of it's members literally slaughter hundreds in terrorist attacks all over Europe, it's not going to happen over fucking Brexit. It's just more blatant manipulation.

Well, there was a backlash, but against a politican (and then ignored a week later).

Not guys, I don't think people that voted leave are all racists or BS like that, but you guys seem really thinking a lot of this worries are not valid when they may actually be. Nothing in the End of the World scale that the media tries to paint it but probably not the parade you want to make.

Dude, most young people talk/think utter shit until they have to handle real life without mom and dad. Then sense begins to filter in.

"In the long run" most of them will get a clue and grow up. Those that don't end up like Chris Chan.

Don't expect they be in your political spectrum by default, thought. Not when the difference in the votes was 52/48

My politics, or those of anyone else was not the point...
I was merely outlining that at a certain age, the youth are usually not interested/informed/mature enough to engage in political issues objectively.

Fair (I actually agree to an extent), thought it seems that the rules of the process of your country imply the contrary so maybe you should not outright dismiss it.

As a young adult I always held voting as an important duty for a citizen; and I'm not even into politics. They should know how big of a responsibility this is and it's their fault they fucked up by not voting when they need to or taking this seriously. Don't blame old people for doing what every citizen needs to do. Keep this as a lesson.

I ain't the one dealing out dumb tags to all and sundry, my good fellow. :story:

Well, because there has been some incredible dumb comments mind you, not by you thought.

Between the guy posting "Xenophobia is a beatiful think" to the drawing of "EU dressed hijab while hiding a star of david" are probrably as bad as the hipters crying " you all racists" because he is worry about his passport.

Ignoring the youth is also going to be a problem. It's the fault of young voters to not take this seriously, but they are still potential voters that, as stupid they can be, they are not really happy right now.
They didn't ignore the youth vote, politicians specifically targeted them and the voter registration was even left open a few days extra due to people trying to register online at the last minute crashing the site, it's not like they didn't do all that was possible but it's up to every individual to register to vote and then vote.

But that doesn't contradice the "violent muslims" that some people here have claimed to be an epidemic? Because will be nutso doing nutso stuff.
In my opinion the progressive left have a problem where they refuse to admit certain fundamentalist Muslim sects are violent and not compatible with western culture like the man who committed this murder and the father of the Orlando shooter who thought his son was wrong only because he should have let God punish them, by refusing to target the toxic elements they're letting the whole of the Muslim religion get conflated with the violent sects, ignorance is also part of the problem too from the right but by trying to shut down any debate just makes things worse and aggrivates the matter.

The western comic industry continues to prove it's utter crap.

So mainland politicians are apparently putting pressure on the UK to activate article 50 ASAP. Am I right in thinking that Greece still hasn't done that despite how long it's been since they voted out?

Mainland politicians actually aren't. Euro bods are because Juncker is pissed he's going down as the "man who let a memberstate leave."

The actual politicians ask that we trigger article 50 as soon as possible, but recognize the reality that we're a bit busy right now.
