Scotland is ineligible for EU membership on their own. Their economy isn't big or stable enough. This came up during Scotland's referendum, when the question was naturally asked.

Now, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the EU bent the rules out of spite (they had to bend them pretty far to take Greece in), but they'd be taking on a liability. Not a very big one, it's true. The population of Scotland is only about 5 million (as opposed to 50 something million English).

It seemed pretty obvious during the Scottish referendum that many English weren't too concerned which way the vote went.

Hell I was rooting for the Scottish to get Independence.

Also would the EU really take on Scotland and piss off Spain?
 
I look at all these Remainers chimping out about racist, fascist, xenophobic white men hijacking the country and destroying democracy, and I can't help but think that this is projection. Most of these guys are upper-class white people who don't want their affluent lifestyles to be affected by British independence and look down on the lowly proles as not knowing what's best for them. That sure sounds like fascism to me. Also, them using Jo Cox's assassination as a soapbox to further their agenda ("The evil right-wingers are using fear to get the public to take their side in the discourse") is disgusting.
 
If anything, mindlessly screaming "racist" as their only goddamn argument has led me to find the arguments against it LESS convincing.

I don't know what they think is going to happen when all the old white people die, there will always be old white people around, unless they somehow think the next generation is going to be more liberal or whatever.

I have a friend currently living in Ireland that is happy about Brexit, saying she hopes "that Ireland will be the next to follow"

Even if they are, the next generation will rebel, so prepare for the actually politically active Conservative youth. Which will make them shit their pants, and me proud, those kids will be able to go on my lawn all they want.

I'm just cackling at the fact that these remainers think our relationship with the continent will immediately end and that's that. It won't. We buy 1 fifth of the Automotive output of Germany, and without our input, Airbus would effectively fuck itself over.
 
Britain faced the entire fucking Europe alone for 2 years before us army troops arrived in strength to invade north Africa.
With their supplies being raised daily by submarines and bombers in the Atlantic.
I think they will be fine.
