Apparently, the Netherlands has considered looking into giving their people the possibility of a referendum at some point. Honestly, I think they should have the choice. The Dutch have been friends with the UK for centuries, and England for even longer. Perhaps a Hexit/Nexit is on the cards?

It'll be Ireland or Denmark next, I'm calling it, the only reason they joined the EU was because the UK did (Ireland for historical links, Denmark for bacon exports)

Since yesterday, it's gotten 1 723 164 signs (and by the time you read this it'll be even more). That's a lot of salt.

I think that's the most salt I've ever seen.

Rutte practically depleted the Dead Sea of all its salt when the referendum concerning the treaty with Ukraine didn't get the results he wanted. I'd love to him when the Nexit referendum tells him to GTFO for the second time.

I'm guessing there's no filter to trace IP by country of origin and exclude non-UK residents either, wonder how much of that comes from people who weren't even eligible for the first one?

It's apparently impossible that any of those old folks actually thought this was right for THEIR children, perhaps? Or even GRANDchildren? There's other reasons influencing the votes of people who are "gonna be dead" when the effects kick in....

The entitlement/selfishness of the average millennial, ladies and gents, can't think of any reason someone would do something unless it directly affects THEM.

Exactly. And what happened to "old people are wise"? Seriously, I'm so tired of seeing pissy 15-25 year-olds shit talk people over 50 and go on about how intellectually and morally superior they are. What a bunch of dumb whippersnappers. The elderly have decades of life experience. They've lived through different eras, wars, and historical events. In other words, they have years of wisdom that young people do not. Young people tend to be easily manipulated by emotion because they have no life experience or years of knowledge to make decisions from.

Of course, sometimes young people are better voters because they're more open to new ideas and aren't stuck in the past, but still. Actually demanding that people over a certain age lose the right to vote is absolutely ridiculous. These people don't seem to understand that someday they'll grow old, and I doubt then that they'd be begging to have their voting rights stripped away.

Also, more salt:

So if I'm reading this right, the remainers want to keep demanding another referendum and want the rules skewed in their favour so it keeps being recalled until they get the result they want?

JUST LIKE THE EU DID!

I'm kinda curious as to how the EU itself is going to take this once the initial panic dies down, because that, more than anything else, will probably set the stage for how fast things come apart. Especially if they start with trying to sanction anyone else who, you know, follows the rules and has a refferendum....

"The more you tighten your grasp, the more systems will slip through your fingers...."

A few weeks later... (A la the 'Gunsche informs Hitler' scene from Downfall)

Berlin said:
"The Netherlands are planning to hold a referendum. They want to go with the UK."

EU said:
"Holy fuck, is that true? The Netherlands are a rich country! If they decide to leave the EU, We're fucked! The banks across the world will suffer again, For naught! Go out there and start the scaremongering,

SCAREMONGERING!
SCAREMONGERING, SCAREMONGERING!"

'WHAAAAAAT? WE'RE NOT IN THE EU ANYMORE? FUCKING FARAGE THAT TWAT AND HIS FUCKING FRIENDS. WE NEED TO DETACH LONDON AND FLY IT TO THE EU ON A GIANT AIRSHIP FUELED BY PROGRESSIVE VALUES AND TOLERANCE!!!'

"TAKE THAT MIDDLE ENGLAND!"

I wouldn't put it past the EU to now start working on dismantling the UK to the best of their abilities, by stick and carrot. Scotland is obviously the most fertile ground for such an enterprise.
They'd destroy themselves if they tried it; it'd make other just leave because of that flagrant dickery.

Well, S&P apparently is thinking about rescinding their AAA rating on the UK, which, is just a matter of due process in the financial world, but, MOAR SALT to the remainders who see it as vindication that overnight, the pound has become toilet paper... er, sorry, where are my manners? BATH TISSUE.
