For late twenties/early thirties guys, it seems to be similar to nintendo soymen nostalgia and immaturity where standards are low due to the desire to relive their childhood(New mario! Its amazing! 10/10. on loop). There are some that like the old ones and try to find decent indie comics but, at least from what I saw, its just desperation for new content from DC and Marvel. That and there still is a large divide between Marvel and DC WWII propaganda/censored capeshit and indie comics with 0 reach and more varied themes. From what I saw, it was the same people into DnD, Magic the Gathering, own a Switch with pokemon and animal crossing, and other fantasy tabletop games who never matured. They're easy targets with poor financial skills and no children or mortgages.

He was homeschooled, so generally that shows some level of care for your child. Plus as others pointed out, she lied about his IQ so he wouldn't feel dumb.
