I don't think they realize how fucking difficult it can be to synthesize chemicals outside of official channels.

I used to be a member of a biohacking community. We'd put together group buys for cutting edge research chemicals (think nootropics and steroids - I am not a troon). First of all we had to find reputable Chinese labs to even manufacture the stuff, which would take months and sometimes even up to two years (depending on the difficulty of the project). Some labs outright refused if they didn't believe it was even worth the effort. Once that was sorted, it took additional months to even get the group buy off the ground due to the logistics. We had to find out how much each person could commit, versus how much we had to order at a minimum, and then fill in the gaps with new member recruitment. Then factor in testing costs, postage and customs fees, any additional overhead costs, some people dragging the feet not paying etc. After it was finally synthesized, it all had to be tested for purity, because of course nobody wants to put rat poison laced chink-shit in their body. A few times we would see months of work collapse when the purity came back too low.

She must truly believe it's just 'chemistry set go brrrr'.

The biohacking community here couldn't even get e.coli hacking off the ground. Getting the chemicals can be pretty difficult, especially before the chinese had markets for it open to the west. It's pretty consistent that leftists do not understand how the world works.

Ummm. Even an "easy" to synthesize chemical like meth still requires precursors that go through this said supply chain. "Just chew on this ma huang plant it's basically meth" "grind up this tree bark it's basically aspirin" "drink this old fashioned root beer it's basically MDMA" "lick this battery it's lithium right?"
