I'm pretty sure he talked about it in the Christian Hosoi documentary. It was on Netflix many years ago. Tony also spoke about the industry crash many times. Companies went bankrupt left and right in the 90s amid the street/vert wars.

So how come Bam used to be able to skate in a straight line without dying while wearing a fat suit, but now he’s actually fat, he immediately breaks a wrist?

Well, age for one thing, alcohol and drug use for another. Long-term alcohol use in particular is known to cause bone density issues. Add that on top of the brain damage/coordination problems, and it’s amazing all he broke was a wrist.
 
Is it sad every time I see this at the top of the board list I expect Bam to be dead? I'd love for him to get his shit together but we all know that isn't happening.
