So say someone is trying to get into boxing/mma and has no experience. What should they look for/avoid when it comes to gyms/classes? To avoid McDojo situations
Your first gym doesn't have to be your long term choice.

If you rock up at a hard arse gym first, you might find it all too overwhelming and needlessly get put off.

I would look for a good white collar gym that doesn't just do fitness classes with boxing, but one that teaches technique and slow introduces you to sparring.

After a while if boxing or Muay Thai is your thing and your white collar gym isn't hard core enough, then you can look around, knowing you have a good foundation underneath you.

An astonishing number of Boxing channels and commentators are going for Usyk.

Here's how I see it:

Fury is 2 years younger. He's 6 inches taller. He has a 7 inch reach advantage.

He knows how to use his length and also how to fight inside. While he's been down in his career. his recuperative abilities are top tier. He doesn't have stamina issues and can fight 12 rounds.

So I'm trying to understand where Usyk has an advantage...hand speed ? Ok maybe ? Volume ? That only matters if you're landing. People point out about how he was pot shotting Anthony Joshua all night, but Joshua's movement is all 1 rhythm and easy to predict/time.

I'm going with Fury by Decision.

Glad Usyk got the nod, and definitely deserved it. That judge that scored it for Fury though was either on the take or crack, because while it was a close-ish fight, there's no realistic way Fury won it IMO.

I should have added that the presence of John Fury, the absolute fucking idiot, was a detriment to Fury.

That motherfucker was claiming that Fury was up on the scorecards as early as Round 9, which is inexplicable.

When you get knocked down, you need to recover but after that you need to take the fight to your opponent and wrestle back that initiative. Fury fought passively in those last 4 rounds, as if he was fighting to "not lose" rather than to "just win".

Given that the judges were intent on calling the fight closely, even with the knockdown, Fury could have won the fight had he stepped on the gas in the last 3 rounds.

He's got too many fucking voices in his corner. It should only be his trainer and the cutman in there.

Anyways, I had it 116-111 for Usyk and I'm glad that the correct decision was made. I don't expect the rematch to go any differently, but it should be a good fight regardless.

Usyk is the first undisputed and thereby lineal Heavyweight Champion in 25 years which should be celebrated. He's also white and Christian, which makes it easier for this older and racist white guy to cheer for the dude.

Spiritually speaking, this was a tough fight to root for given that I like both guys (white, Christian) with the additional plus of Fury's dislike for kikes. Speaking of kikes, any Usyk victory however would bring joy to that heeb midget who runs Ukraine which is a bummer. It is what it is, as is often said.

I want the rematch, if they do it again, we might have one of the best trilogies in the making since Tyson and Wilder, GGG vs Canelo, Pacquiao and Marquez.

John Fury's mere existence is a detriment to basically the human race, dude is a first class wanker. Absolutely agree on the shit cornering advice. I've never understood anyone who advised fighters like that, even when they're legit winning, there's always the possibility of the judges shitting the bed.

Also:
“I believe I won that fight,” Fury said in the ring. “I believe he won a few of the rounds but I won the majority of them. I believe it was one of those decisions in boxing. We both put on a good fight, the best we could do.

“His country’s at war so people are siding with the country at war. But make no mistake, I won that fight, in my opinion. I’ll be back. I’ve got a rematch clause. I think Jesus for all the victories he’s given me. I’ve got a split decision loss to a good little man and I thank him again, in the mighty name of Jesus. We go back home to our families and we run it back October. Good luck to Oleksandr, well done, God bless you.”

Holy fucking cope Batman

Holy fucking cope Batman

I will only add that this is a relatively “acceptable” level of cope compared to what we’ve seen in Boxing compared to other outbursts. He also stayed in the ring and gave Usyk his “flowers” as the blacks say.

The Ukraine bias is true because it’s even part of the tranny flag now, so you know that the average NPC is at least somewhat sympathetic to Ukrainian athletes.

Good on Fury for being sporting. They’ll run it back in a few months and we may even get a trilogy out of this.

Just found out that me and Usyk share the same birthday so that’s cool. He’s one of those boxers that I think I remember from 2014 when the Fight Night video game series was still popular than the UFC’s.

Either way, to break Lennox Lewis’ record like that is impressive, and I say that as a fan of Fury’s. Good on him for winning and actually making history.

Plus, the best part:

Sure, he’s rich enough to win back that money, but since technically losing to Kendrick Lamar, he really needs to bet wisely.

Any loss taken by a literal nigger kike is a double win in my book.

I will get a more in depth write up on the fight once I find it online, so I can rewatch it a few times. In the meantime, have some highlights, courtesy of /sp/ -

Round 6 was not kind to Usyk. Fury had made adjustments, got some timing down, and was being Tyson Fury.
However, at the end of Round 7 -

And then in Round 9 -

:woo: BONUS :woo:
Name the 4 boxers in this picture, and you get a medal from yours truly. I don't know who the guy on the far left is, so if you know, you're a double winner.
HINT - As of yesterday night, each one of them is/has been a world champion.

Any gym where people are traveling to compete will be legit to a degree. Dont worry about affiliations or credentials, or rather dont be fooled by them. If you are atleast at a gym that competes you will quickly be introduced to the other gyms in the area vis sparring and you will learn more about what you like and dont like in a trainer quickly.

December 21st will be Usyk vs. Fury 2. Hopefully, less of John Fury this time around. Has time caught up with Fury? I am aware that he does not live the healthiest lifestyle outside of the ring, what with 'me mental 'elf', drug usage (allegedly), and crazy weight swings. I think at 30, he got away with it. Mid 30's, and facing the highest competition possible in Usyk? Tougher to have your body recover from that dumb shit. We shall see, and I might see about being in Riyadh for this one.

Sad to see Wilder go out like this, who would have thought that Wilder insisting on a Fury trilogy would leave the heavyweight division open for Usyk to come in undisputed at the end. Such a shame we'll never see a Wilder vs AJ fight. Wilder had a good run, it's time for him to retire after this. (:_(

Yeah I woukd have liked to see it several years ago. As it stands now, AJ has had a much better resume. But I think Wilder woukd have been a tough match up for him. Wilder really has zero inside punching game though.
