Its starting...

"EDIT" Lilith is still alive. Great... Also Amara is no longer a "muscle mommy". They said they "tuned down the snarky writing" but characters are already being smart asses.

Well, that was short. they didint really show anything. its Borderlands so you know what is expect. Its cool they brought the jet-pack back and you can now replay missions instead of loading saves for gear farming.

I have to post a reminder that with this information, muh nigga Roland is *still* the only OG cast member who got killed permanently, and Gearbox had the gall to post Black Lives Matter bullshit in 2020 when one of the 2 playable cast they killed was the only playable black guy.

As for BL4, I'll only play it if I have people who want to play. The story shat the bed so hard in 3 that I simply don't care anymore.

Also, wasn't Zane from 3? Unless there's some time fuckery from Timekeeper, some time has passed in-universe.

Considering how much they ruined Lilith in 3 keeping her dead would be doing her a favor.

Also Vex gave me serious AVA vibe, probably a plot twist you can foresee hundreds of miles away or a scrapped concept and rebranded as Vex because she was a major PITA in the 3...

Same. I loved the fuck out of Borderlands, especially 2, and it's one of my favorite vidya series of all times. Probably. Or at one point it was.

Current Year and the downward trend of quality have evaporated that goodwill, however. Especially with the characters and overall tone of the game, and with the dev company itself. While the pendulum has started to swing back towards games being fun, I fully expect this to be a "Talk to Lilith" simulator with some fujoshi bait and tranny kids thrown in for good measure.

I'm not going to get my hopes up and I'll do my best to ignore the game so as not to be disappointed (again), but I'll keep an eye on Kiwi opinions, positive or negative. You weirdos, I trust.

Is Vex, Ava? She looks a bit like a grownup Ava, and the backstory reads like Ava too.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking, too. I'm late to this since I don't follow the Borderlands fandom anymore, but from what I gather there's been a lot of prior speculation that the character is Ava, and "Vex" is a recent reveal.

People fucking hated Ava, so keeping her identity "secret" until people bought the game is probably a smart PR move. Kind of like KCD2 and all the gaslighting and "strategic omissions" the dev was doing.

(I actually didn't mind Ava so much, since she at least had some personality, which is more than I can say for the majority of characters in BL3. But a large contingent of the fanbase blamed her for Maya, so unless Ava is the villain and Vex is some kind of clone or bodydouble a la Not-Really-Handsome-Jack in PreSequel, I can't see it going over well)

It's been a while since I played 3, but wasn't Ava directly responsible for Maya's death? I think it was something like Maya told her to stay behind, she disobeyed and was put in danger, Maya freed her then died(?) Worse still, she got mad at the other cast for not being able to fix the problem she created, and nobody gave her the kick up the ass she deserved.

She is a shitty character that failed upwards. She stole shit and got rewarded with an apprenticeship, she got someone killed and got rewarded through inheriting their powers. It's no wonder people hate her.
 
Worst Vault Hunter cast out of any of the games for sure, God are they all unbelievably ugly.

Why not bring back fan favorites like Gage or Timothy instead of these George Floyd looking jobbers?

Is it because they're white and you can't have that in current year?
 
I'll be extremely impressed if they somehow manage to make a more annoying character than the Calypso twins. As of right now I don't think it's possible.
