Fuck, TPS was kino. The music, the atmosphere, the laser guns. Why was it hated, exactly? I played it on release and don't remember any issues at all. Is it because of something related to the legendaries and the grinder?

GamerGate was around the same time, and iirc, some people like the writer (Anthony Burch) were stiffly anti-GG, as was Randy Bitchford (no surprises there). When people saw Borderlands 2.5 where Athena was now a lesbian and you get lectures about friendzoning, they felt like it was going to be a soulless cash-in.

It's 1.5 though, right? And oh yeah, Torgue screams FRIENDZOOONED in one of the early quests you do for Janey, after asking her out. But I've been playing through 2 again, and it's full of this exact same shit, so it's not like it was new? I think most of the quests involving relationships involve fags trying to kill each other, Torgue has several gay lines like IT'S AWESOME AND BADASS TO RESPECT WOMEN, and so forth.
Also, in the ending slideshow, Athena apparently scatters the bloodstained cash she got from Jack, which makes no sense. She literally willingly came in and ran errands for Jack.
But hey, TPS has one great feature... not a single arena quest in the base game.

Going to start playing Hammerlocks gay weeding DLC.

Wainwright being a fag is one of the biggest fuck ups of B3. Maybe all the faggotry is the direct result of consuming slag contaminated water.

2.5 in the sense that it was made after Borderlands 2.

Yeah, it was pretty shit. Borderlands fucked up most of the characters thoigh, save for maybe Rhys. Marcus got fuck-all beyond narration, Zed got to voice the machine and nothing else, Ellie was more obnoxious, Tannis became Flanderized, and Moxxi was even more of a spiteful bitch. It was probably a good idea not to bring any of them back in 4, just a shame they resurrected Lilith.

It was a full price DLC sold as a standalone game, something Far Cry Blood Dragon did, but better, because it also had a completele tonal shift and was one giant cheeseball. The OZ humor just doesn't land 99% of the time on people outside of OZ. HOURS of WAITING for characters to finish their fucking exposition so the door right in front of you goes from red to green allowing you to pass. O2 kits being more of an annoyance than a key gameplay element (remember how they said shattering enemy gas masks was a big deal and in reality it never mattered past like level 10?). Janey and Athena being lesbos for no reason, and Janey being REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING about it. Character audio in general - full of saliva, lip smacks and audible breathing. Awful, awful vehicles. Basically no endgame (here, enjoy farming nothing but a single fucking lizard). Boring, reused legendaries (Claptastic Voyage alleviated that somewhat, Laser Disker is the best weapon in the game). Luneshine in general. Music was actually completely forgettable, TPS was already marred by the "melody bad, ambience good" trend. Seriously, BL1's Fyrestone Theme is still stuck with me today. BL2 had lots of catchy tunes, particularly in combat. Southern Shelf and Three Horns are great, and I think Exploitation Preserve which is also reused in Pyro Pete's bar I like the most. The Dust's combat theme basically has buzzards embedded in it. And fucking hell, the RIFFS in Bloodshot Ramparts.
The strongest point of TPS was Wilhelm.

Finished Guns, Love, and Tentacles. It was not as gay as i thought it would be. Like the spooky theme (reminded me of Zombie Ned DLC from 1 but more cult like) and most characters (minus hammerlock and Wainwright) were enjoyable. I liked the detective quest line more then i should have and the enemies were fun to fight.. Going to play Bounty of Blood DLC next.

Guns Love And Tentacles isn't nearly as bad as people meme it because the gay shit lasts for like the opening five minutes and the rest of it is Lovecraftian shit with a weird cult.

Would it be better if there was no gay shit at all? Yea fucking absolutely. But people act like it's 10 hours of watching two old faggots kiss which is incredibly exaggerated and inaccurate.

how did they fuck up borderlands 4's opening cinematic so much, even 3 had a decent one. pre sequel still clears

100%'d the game, all collectibles and shit, still a bunch of black patches in the map.

I bet it's a bunch of stupid chests with garbage green guns inside.

After all this grind, what do I think about the game? I don't know, it's fun, but the repetitive biomes and shitty main missions soured the experience a bit. And it's way too long as well. I only completed it all because I played with my brother, and we just chatted all the time and had a good time together. I don't think I would have the patience to do all this optional shit alone.

7/10, maybe 6.5/10 I don't know.

Making a very unpopular ranking here, but I prefer B3 over B4.

B2 (Does anyone have any hope the first place is ever going to change?) > B1 > B3 > B4

Started playing Bounty of Blood from Boderlands 3. I kinda like how they mixed cowboy western with Japanese ascetics. Still a silly spagetti western but thats to be expected.

Anyone else feel like it looks like code hunters? The concept Randy stole to create this hole series?

Replayed pre sequel a few days ago, why the fuck did 2K aus include an oz kit that basically removes any reason to equip a different one.

Even it being locked behind a mission where you donate 50 white tier guns isnt that hard, its just annoying.

Finally done with all BL3 DLCs. The last two were a bit shorter then the other ones but i dont really mind that. Bounty of Blood was good and the final boss (while being a big target) had a pretty cool design. Psycho Krieg and the fantastic fustercluck also had some cool visuals and spectacle, and the story was actually pretty good for BL3 standards. Krieg had a hard life and its time for him to rest. As much as i despise most of the BL3 cast, Moze was actually pretty good character all things considered. She is whitey, socially awkward around people (unless shes gunning them down) and her love and care for Iron Bear was cute. There was one side quest were she says her full name which was the few times the game got a laugh out of me.

I doubt i be playing BL4 anytime soon. Dosent help that none of the character looks interesting to play.

I posted this in the Outer Worlds 2 thread too but I really think the era of the self referential wink wink "I'm Pickle Rick Mortaaaaaay!" Reddit humor is over. Products that are saturated with it are failing left and right.
Certainly is changing several franchises that were just that humor in general. I honestly don't know if it's for the better, considering what's replacing it is just going the complete opposite direction and dropping the cringy but ultimately creative and unique settings and environment for the dullest possible choices all the way to make it more "serious". Borderlands 4 looks like boring slop the entire way from the variety of biomes and enemies I've seen, at least borderlands 3 was varied yet annoying slop. I guess I can stomach ass-tier dialogue more than I can stomach nothing by-the-numbers storytelling.

Recently I have finished BL1. Played Siren and did elemental damage build. In the end I ended so op I could just shoot something once or twice and watch it die. Pretty fun but I didn't see myself doing playthrough 2. Siren ability was kinda lame. Used it only to reposition myself.

Playing BL2 right now as mechromancer anarchy build is so fucking fun I can't stop playing. Bunny hopping close combat death machine gameplay reminds me of old fps games and shield regen on kill of Mass Effect 2 vanguard. Unlike siren in BL1 mechromancer ability feels more useful and use it all the time as distraction.

I am honestly surprised how addicting both of these games are. Also they are not as cringe as I thought they would be. Even smiled couple of times.

The era ended when gearbox thought it was a good idea to ruin the touching ending of the tiny tina dlc with a forced "wow isnt claptrap annoying" bit.

Yeah Lilith has the worst siren ability in the game, its kinda funny how much cooler her powers are once you aren't playing as her.

Borderlands is carried so hard by its gameplay its not even funny. Its humor is also very hit and miss but the fact they throw so many at you means you are gonna find at least a few of them funny. Less "oh its the one good borderlands joke" and more "every game has a couple good jokes"
