This is going to be a very specific complaint but I hate how Boomers ruined the education system by essentially being dumb. There are clearly two different paradigms in the education sphere, before WWII and after WWII, if you examine it to some degree.
The before WWII paradigm emphasized a practical education, mastery of practical skills, being proficient in a variety of scientific areas, good at sports/combat, being an all rounder basically but not being the best at all of them, what people of the day called a generalist education. This is where you get the war and pre war generations, where each person knew 4 languages at minimum, served in combat, was a theatric person of some sort and also had some science knowledge, your Omar Sharifs, your Christopher Lees, your Cormac McCarthys, your Charles Lindberghs, Robert E Howards and HP Lovecrafts. There were also some elite Ivy league colleges, like Harvard and Oxford, which required dissertations written in full latin about a medieval text as an undergraduate application, in the 1910s and 20s, which are insanely high standards.
The post WWII paradigm with the boomers had an education system which was inherently contradictory, teaching kids that they could be anything and everything they wanted to, that a retarded black kid from harlem could go to the moon and also that money was the highest ideal, not proficiency or skill or talent. Everything done was done for cash, so your proficiency should be hyper specific to the ignorance of everything else, doesnt matter if you couldnt speak good english as long as you could do what was required. Instantly all standards dropped, people stopped aspiring for better things and this specialist education system basically destroyed 200 years of achievement in most areas. Im sure today theres no boomer who can speak latin as well as someone from 1920 and even if some of them went to Vietnam, theyre fat fucking slobs who dont give a shit now. And now we got kids in high school who dont know what extraordinary or indefatigable is.
And the even worse thing is, this inadvertently causes a drop in job standards cause the same positions remain but the people coming to fill it become dumber with each generation. The easiest and quickest evidence for this is seeing the iq chart of US presidents since the founding of the country. Everyone up until Kennedy had an IQ somewhere in the 130s at minimum and it came down to 105-115 now. I dont even want to talk about public office holders, the sciences and whatnot. Unintentional eugenics.
