What genre?
Lately I've been into fantasy novels and grimdark kind of stuff but I'm open to any genre except boring politsperg books.

Have you ever read Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy? It transcends its genre.

Looks like the unabridged version is available as an audiobook narrated by Simon Vance. He is one of my favorite narrators for audiobooks so I might pick this up.

What genre?
Fantasy in the sense that the bulk of Tolkien's work is. It would be unfair to each to pigeon hole them in that manner.

You should pick up a physical copy as Peake illustrated all his own books. If you like his drawings I must propose you pick up a collection of them from your local library. He intended on a fourth book which he never finished due to dementia. His wife however published the final work after he died which I recommend skipping.

I meant for Analog Devolved, what genre they wanted.

I buy most of my books through Google play books. They have almost every book available. I'm partial to audiobooks because I can listen to them whenever and while I'm doing other things.

Someone told me the movie was better.
I've got about 8GB of ebooks (around 6000 titles, give or take) on a drive somewhere, I think they're .epub but might be .mobi (unless I've already converted them). You're welcome to a copy of them, if you'd like. Fantasy, Sci-fi, Biographies, Instructional/Self-help, allsorts of genres.

ETA: Obviously, that offer's open to anyone who wishes to partake; I'll bang a .rar in a chuckaway Google drive if there's any interest.

I don’t wanna stray too far, but I’ve never been able to properly concentrate on audio books. I always get distracted with cooking or whatever and have to rewind constantly.

Unless it’s a road trip.

Can you PM that?

There's also a very naughty project called Library Genesis (wikipedia link) that has over 250k fiction books available for download, along with a ton of tech books and scientific articles. They have to change domain names on occasion, but fortunately Wikipedia has up to date links so you know what sites not to visit!

Convince us he's worth the time. It's one thing spitting out a name; it's another to get someone to invest many hours of their life.
Writer of Kane, Conan done in a gothic style. Also editor for many horror anthologies and worked with Ramsey Campbell.

Edit:If you want some examples I can put it down.

If you liked Lightbringer, then you will, most likely, enjoy the following:
(+/-/= ratings in comparison to Lightbringer where sensible, sanderson free zone)

Fantasy/High Fantasy/Epic Fantasy

Age of Myth - The Legends of the First Empire Series

+world =narration +presentation ++character development +plot -complexity =action

This one is a roller-coaster: strong /well developed characters, unique magic system, slight political intrigue, top narration, a grand mystery, ninjas cutting truckloads of onions - follows multiple slightly modified "The Heroes Journey" Templates.

Son of the Black Sword - Saga of the Forgotten Warrior

-world +narration -presentation -character development +plot --complexity ++action

A much more self-contained experience, it is a tad lacking in the character development and character per se. departments, grand mystery, survival, slight political intrigue

The Path of Flames - Chronicles of the Black Gate Series

=world -narration =presentation -character development -plot -complexity +action

A mostly by the books Epic fantasy, follows multiple slightly modified "The Heroes Journey" Templates, i can't recall exactly why it left a strong impression on me but it did

Isolation- Playing Gods
Graphic audio exclusive or it used to be

not comparable to lightbringer in any way, its an incredible action packed joyride with the occasional ninja cutting onions intermission

Dark Fantasy/Grimdark

The Grim Company - Grim Company

-world -narration -presentation ++character development -plot -complexity +action +grit

Dark and gritty, unforgiving world, strong characters (one of em in particular puts this pretty close to lightbringer), a grand mystery, political intrigue

The Warded Man - Demon Cycle

-world =narration +presentation -character development +plot -complexity +action ++grit

Very bleak, survival focused, interesting but less developed characters, well written combat, demons and sandniggers

131 days - 131 days

-world ++action +++grit

Low Fantasy, gritty down to earth gladiatorial combat, blood and gore, strictly follows Murphy's law , gladiatorial intrigue, elements of mystery

Fantasy/Comedy

Sir Apropos of Nothing - Sir Apropos of Nothing

This is one for the lols, very cynical, stupidly funny, Apropos is smthing akin to a high fantasy jack black, the first book is epic the rest i don't recall

Fool's Gold - The Dragon Lords

Words can't describe the lols this one has to offer, Chad man eating Lizardman, Mentally unsound Pyromancer with a dragon fetish, a super naive wimpy main character

Okay, links are up. Some of the .mobi can't/won't convert, because Calibre is being a faggot about it, hence why there's differing numbers of books. @Analog Devolved @Fromtheblackdepths , anyone else who wants in.

4700+ ebooks (epub)

5000+ ebooks (mobi)

I take absolutely no responsibility for the quality of the books, I haven't read them all and can't speak as to the quality.
