How long do you all usually stream for?

Last was kinda quiet so we wrapped up around 10. We'll.see what happens tonight, now that Eliwood killed a dragon that turned out to be his girlfriend!

I love you guys so much.

Anyway, for tonight's stream, Omni wants me to play XCOM. All I know about the game is that there are aliens.

Hey guys (@Sammy & @Ravelord, perhaps @dunebrine47), we're playing Battle Block Theatre, as requested.

Dear @BOLDYSPICY!:

I has a game to suggest. It's fun, stupid, probably beatable in about 2 hours, and it's a historical game too (Id's first real game).

I speak, of course, of Catacomb 3D, which is available to download here. You'll need DOSBOX or something to play it, but I suspect that won't be a problem for @Bob's Axe. It's a pretty straightforward little dungeon crawl in 2.5D, so enjoy it.

Cat3D is the first FPS Id Software ever made. It's a very basic shooter but it's also a lot of fun. There isn't any strafing or anything by default so you may need to fart around with the controls. Here's what you'll need to know:

Your character is a Wizard named Patton Everhail. He's entered thy dungeon to find his missing master who was abducted by a lich. Your main weapon is magic. You can either rapidly shoot little magic missiles or charge up and fire a much stronger fireball, a-la Megaman. You pick up and store secondary spells, Healing Potions, and scrolls for later use (note that you can hold more than it actually shows, especially for Healing Potions.

Secret areas are found by shooting walls and blowing holes in the dungeon itself. You have unlimited ammo so shoot everything that looks remotely suspicious and look around for secret goodies.

Your health is represented by the face in the corner. When you look like one of Tyce's minions, you dead.

Consumable Items:

Nukes are used with the N key. When used, they fire fireballs off in every direction - good for clearing out a crowd. They can also be used at close range to do big damage to larger foes. Nukes look like glass balls filled with red energy.

Bolts are used wit the B key. When used, they fire a rapid flurry of fireballs that do immense damage in a short time. Save them for tough enemies. They look like a glass ball full of yellow energy.

Healing potions are blue bottles. Each one fully restores health. Hunt them down. You'll need 'em. Use 'em with H.

Good luck.

I am loving all these game recommendations, guys. Keep 'em coming! I'll def tell @Bob's Axe about this, I'm sure she'll be down with it.

I also promise that despite being overwhelmed by XCOM, Bloodbourne, etc., I actually am good at games. For cereals.

I've got some extra steam keys for a couple of games if you two had any interest in playing/streaming any of the following
  • Broforce
  • Move or Die
  • Risk of Rain
  • Viscera Cleanup Detail (Space Janitors!)

I also have one or two keys of Bloody Trapland if they are interested I think. Maybe I could spare a DaS1 or DaS2 key that I still couldn't gift :/

@Bob's Axe has Risk of Rain & Viscera Cleanup Detail, but AFAIK not Broforce or Move or Die. She's Omniwave on Steam (& I should appear as BOLDYSPICY! on her friends list, so add me if you haven't already!)
From my brief visit today, to compare to Cuphead:
Contra III The Alien Wars
Nice, thank you!

P sure she owns every Dark Souls game, but I don't know if she has Bloody Trapland. I'll have to check.

Cuphead in ten! Come on down!

BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat (Sega Genesis)
Another game of the good ol' days. This one has a pretty interesting 2 player mode which might be fun for you guys to try, where one player drives the mech, and the other rotates the top and handles weapon firing.

On a similarly hilarious note, if it can even be done/found on PC, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy offers a similar co-op mode where, if memory serves, one player controls the movement, while the other attacks/uses powers. I've seen a playthrough of it being done at one point, and it was a total shitshow, and a clusterfuck. The kind of shitshow you just can't help but laugh at.

Of course, this co-op run was done with both LPers in the same room rather than online, so I'm not sure it has an online feature for that, sadly.
