Do you guys think we'll ever get a season 3? :optimistic:
I like to think Madhouse has some fealty for the series considering they made 2 seasons and the OVAs, but after Frieren's success?? I think they're gonna want to capitalize on that over BL which I'm guessing really doesn't sell well in comparison to the banana money stuff like Frieren and Hunter x Hunter print. Wonder what happened to my previous comment kiwis?

My only real concern is nowadays, considering when the BL anime was originally released, it was a different "social climate" and my main worry is the push back Madhouse would get for releasing a third season. Considering the fact that a lot of people that do watch anime, unfortunately, are retarded troons or blacked cucky liberals :politisperg:.

Madhouse makes anime for manga that have enough chapters to adapt. And since the Roberta OVAs released in the 2011, a grand total of ONE story arc has finished. Black Lagoon is by and large Monthly Sunday GX's (the magazine it's serialized in) best selling manga. Much like the aforementioned HxH, despite its sporadic at best release schedule, it has a dedicated fanbase that will come out of the woodwork to buy the newest volume. It has two manga spin offs in the same magazine currently running due to its popularity.

Frieren's success??
Frieren's S2 is already in production, you know damn well by the time that it airs in 2026, we're not going to be halfway through this arc.

I know the VA's are up to dub it, and while the social climate may be different from back then, it has also just changed again.

Author Rei Hiroe talks about his struggles with depression in a recent interview with an editor from a publication who also struggles with it. Hiroe's own editor was also interviewed.

Hiroe developed depression in 2010. It got exacerbated by the death of his father and the negative fan reaction to Roberta's Blood Trail arc. He mentions that when he tried to force himself to draw more, he grew to almost hate Black Lagoon. His editor is very supportive and he is given no hard deadlines.

Rei honestly needs to get his fuckin' shit together. There's a fine line when it comes to sympathizing for somebody, and just outright enabling them. It's been over a decade since the passing of his father, and the unnecessary fan blowback from Roberta's arc. Get it together. Either that, or sell all the fucking IP and creative rights to people who actually want to see the story of Black Lagoon flourish, instead of hating your own creation (very poetic btw that Rei hates Black Lagoon) and constantly spiralling. There are plenty of cases in the world, where people have constant depression, but still show up to do what they need to do. It's called self-discipline, and acting like a fuckin' adult. I sympathized for him at first in 2013, now I'm just sick of hearing it. Fuckin' Black Lagoon fanfictions are updated faster than the actual cannon of Black Lagoon, AND I might dare say, a handful are actually good, AND completed.

He does not hate it, he is just depressed. The wording used was "almost hated".

Got to ask, in such a result driven society like Japan, who is bankrolling him? Black Lagoon has been a phantom for more than a decade, unless it's still raking mad cash in Japan for royalties, I don't see why he gets such a pass. Also, might be time to consider dropping the series and drawing something else.
