I demand my playable Elcor.
They would be a slow race but have a huge heavy weapon system on their back that auto targets enemies but you would need to use the Kinect to shoot it. And you would have to talk like an Elcor for the Kinect to recognize your voice making combat more tense as you have to speak completely monotone as you figure out what emotion you are trying to convey.

Ok, so I played about an hour of Inquisition today on Xbox One (If you have EA access, you can get the trial before launch) and here are my thoughts so far:

PROS:
I like combat. It takes a bit of getting used too, but it is very smooth and challenging. I like the fact that they took away auto health regen, it makes shit more challenging without that stupid "And suddenly Ninjas pop out and shank your companions" BS you had in DA2. You can only have up to 8 potions, but they refill for free at camp.

Now, I accidentally ended Character customization early because I was not paying attention but its actually pretty good. I changed my eye color and it lets you set both the color of the inner and outer iris and even the intensity of the color. Way better than what we had in ME or previous DA titles but not as good as something like Saints Row.

I like that they give you two voice options for each gender, given that the Inquisitor is fully voiced.

The game is just gorgeous. Graphically, I am impressed and I look forward to seeing how well it looks on PC. The maps are detailed and I enjoy just looking at them.

You can fucking jump.

I really like that they kept the DA2 style wheel, which helps you know the tone of what you are saying/

CONS:

I noticed in some cutscenes that the FPS got pretty choppy. I may be just over sensitive too it, but it was noticeable in most of the cutscenes. Out side of that though, there were no noticeable frame dips.

I fucking hate the American accent female voice.

This is an Xbox One complaint, but the lack of AA is really glaring in some spots.

I only played a bit over an hour but for the most part, its really good. It feels different from the previous two games in terms of gameplay but in a good way. When I get a chance to play more, I will let everyone know.

Got my copy in the mail today for my PC deluxe edition and I have my first issue. The installer is broken and will not install the game. Good job on that, now I have to download the thing on my slow ass internet/

My BF picked up the PS4 version of Inquisition last week, and we spent the entire weekend passing the controller back and forth. I've never been too wowed by the series (it always felt like a lame echo of Baldur's Gate to me), but the new one has really grabbed me. It's beautiful, well-written, and a lot of fun.

As far as Mass Effect 4 goes, I'd probably only ever play as a human, Trurian or Vorcha (I'd actually love to play as a reckless Vorcha commanding officer and find the idea of such to be hilarious), but so long as we have a Vorcha party member I'll be happy. I got pretty attached to my Vorcha Sentinel in the ME3 multiplayer and he was definitely my favorite character.

As for Inquisition, gonna wait until it's available on Steam or the price goes down on a console version, but so far it looks pretty nice. I was a big fan of Origins and I liked some of DA2's features/Carver was a cool character/appreciated the Welsh/Irish accents on the Dalish. Shame you can't actually follow the Qun though, I kinda thought it had some cool points in a world like that.

Ok, I have a few minutes before work, so a few thoughts on the PC version. I am only a gfew hours in but I hope to have played enough to do a full review later.

Mantle does not want to boot into full screen, whitch sucks because I get better performance in Mantle over DirectX
It seems the choppiness of the cut scenes is due to the forced 30 fps cap on cut scenes. The rest of the game runs smooth though.
This game looks really good, like exploring is fun just because its so much fun to see all the little details. Even on the chracter models, you can see thge texture of the skin and the imperfections in the skin.
Combat continues to be fun.
I found out that not all battles are scaled the hard way, when I walked into a dragons nest and got a TPK in a single hit.

More later.

So there was a thread on /v/ about how there's a transgender character in DAI. And there was a few posts that I actually legitimately agree with.

So what is this about exactly? I haven't gotten around to playing inquisition yet and I haven't looked up anything about the characters.

Welp, played some DA:I (I play on PC). My vague spoiler-free thoughts?

I have a love hate relationship with it at the moment. On one hand I'm enjoying it a lot more than I enjoyed DA2, the graphics are nice, the environments are varied and my companions seem interesting. The plot flow is organized a lot better as well. I'm actually buying my rise to power, whereas in DA2, Hawke's rise to power always felt a little forced/non-nonsensical. I'm playing as a female Qunari made, so its nice to see NPCs react to that. It's a bit of a shame that one of the major plot elements in DA:I comes from this side quest in DA2 that I never played because it was DLC, but whatevs.

Now...my main gripe with the game. The AI is terrible. It could be a case of me just not being familiarized with it yet, but so far, I hate it. During most mob encounters, you can let the AI do its thing and you're good. However, when you actually need to use tactics in a fight that requires movement, careful positioning and strategy (say, when you're fighting a big-ass dragon) it completely falls apart. The AI in DA:O wasn't hyper intelligent, but the game let you organize tactics in a way that made tactical fights much more comfortable. They've stripped these AI options out completely in the game, with the most you can control is targeting, potion use and mana/stamina conservation.

Maybe I just need to "get good", but micromanaging the entire party feels really clunky and frustrating in fights where it matters. It feels like they focused the game more towards an action game but didn't compensate the AI to deal with this change. I wish the tactics mode was much easier to use.

I actually liked that character. It's a very unusual type of character for a fantasy setting. People complain about it because it's not historically realistic... and I have to wonder what games they've been playing instead of dragon age that value historic authenticity. Between the dragons flying around, mage towers and demons, there's not much room left for historical authenticity. Dragon Age's setting is a different world with different rules. Sure, one could argue that she's there for diversity's sake, but I was okay with it. I found her presence interesting in a setting where you don't usually see that kinda stuff. Interesting characters are one of the main reasons for why I like dragon age inquisition anyway.

Also, I'm pretty sure that she's not following the qun, and Iron Bull, who recruited her, is shown as not giving a huge amount of fucks about it either.

Dragon Age Wiki said:
Krem is described by Iron Bull as fitting the Qunari concept of "Aqun-Athlok", which effectively means "born as one gender but living like another."

I know Bioware's full of retcons but that was a big one I noticed and one I didn't like.

Doesn't mean that she's following the qun. Just that iron bull applies the qun to her, which qunaris do with everything.

But that's fair enough. I wasn't saying that everyone HAS to like this character. I was just saying that I do. The Qunari have received different appearances in literally every dragon age game. It doesn't come as a surprise to me that their continuous changes include adding stuff to their background. One could also say that the whole 'women craft, men fight' logic applies differently in the case of Aqun-Athlok. Maybe these aren't seen as women at all, in which case Krem's fighting doesn't really conflict with the qun.

I mean it was probably a retcon, but it's possible to get around it without having my immersion broken. At least for me.

So..."zomg no spoilars", but I'm curious to see why Iron Bull is so....chilled? Like he gave my Qunari some attitude, because I don't follow the Qun. He's very different from Sten and every other single Qunari we saw in DA2. Maybe because he's been a spy/playing a part for a long time? I like him a lot, but I've hardly unlocked any dialogue scenes with him for whatever reason.

Don't even get me started on not unlocking scenes. I'm pretty sure a glitch is preventing me from playing Dorian's companion quests. I have all the prerequisites to get the quest to start. I looked it up because I was confused to as why it wasn't appearing, and yeah, it turns out there's a common glitch preventing it from happening. I hope that's not the case with Iron Bull's dialogue scenes either. He's got some good ones. (no spoilers)
