This sounds like a terrible gimmick honestly, there's a reason most rhythm games are pretty simple and definitely not 3D platformers.
When the novelty of the music and the gameplay being synced up wears off, you have platforming that looks extremely weightless from the trailer, and boss fights that look like they drag on because they have to follow the music.
Maybe it'd work if when you fight better the song changes to be more frantic and you can get more hits in and end the fight early, but it doesn't seem like it from what I read in the kickstarter, so the fights will most likely last the same amount of time no matter how good you get at them, so why not just play a game entirely designed around the mechanics based around rhythm rather than shoving it into a 3D platformer.
The whole project also just feels like it's trying to ape a Hat in Time, except with a musical element. The cute exterior with the darker stuff underneath, overly theatrical villains, the main character being designed to be an overly cutesy female, and fighting with an umbrella.
I wonder if the last bullet point means that if you suck at rhythm the game will compensate by journo-moding itself.
No need! I checked out the doc they linked listing "accessibility options" and it
already has journalist mode!
