I think the average bust size has gone up due to obesity. But according to old medical journals, doctors would come across women around the world with extremely large breasts. One woman in the 1800's they found with breasts around 15 kilograms each, they offered her surgery, but she said she was proud as her role as the village wet nurse.

You still see these cases today if you check modern medical journals. Typically women want them removed because of unwanted attention and quality of life issues.

You may say that, but for every woman who has massive breasts and wants them gone through surgery. There's a woman who gets surgery specifically to have massive breasts.

Grass is always greener it seems.
Ok, so, the next time someone asks: this. This is sufficent.

They're currently fixing the "poor women of Dragon's Crown" on their livestream. On one hand I didn't like how the Amazon's body was composed of lumpy muscle, but on the other, everyone in the game has exaggerated features. Personally, I don't see what is so wrong with the Elf. She's not so bad...

Maybe it was already mentioned itt, I don't remember. But when Dragon's Crown released and Kotaku inevitably bitched about it, this is what the character designer gave them for an answer:

It then blew up in his face and he had to apologize https://kotaku.com/the-artist-behind-dragons-crown-explains-his-exaggerat-482450927
It's hilarious to see how little they think about the things they see. Out of the bunch, I think the Sorceress has the most thought-out design: she got huge tits and wide hips, those are maternal attributes fitting her healer role (she's the only character that can conjure healing items). See how she's also represented with skeletons, to which she "gave life"? it's neat.

It just shows you they have no idea of what they are talking about. As someone who draws, I've invested a lot of time in studying anatomy. And found almost any bodyshape depicted in manga you read happens in real life.

that first pic for your pear example is a botched thigh injection (you can usually tell be the fat distribution), and the second is more of an hourglass with how her chest balances it out.

Lipedema is a disorder characterized by symmetric enlargement of the legs due to deposits of fat beneath the skin. It is a common condition, occurring almost exclusively in women (affecting up to 11% of women). The cause of lipedema is unknown; however, there is evidence of hormonal and hereditary influences

very informative, but I don't think it really helps your point. I doubt that anime waifus are meant to have lipedema, they're just supposed to be thicc, and that's okay. body types don't need to be realistic or common to exist in fiction. pointing out women who are disabled (being 4'9" or under is dwarfism) or have a disease like lipedema to defend thicc anime gorls as "realistic" makes you look just as invested in anime tiddies as the people at BABD.

you don't need to use your anatomy studies to defend big tiddy waifus, I promise.

Thats a common misconception. Dwarfism is a genetic disorder, causing the limbs to be shorter than the body as well as other hereditary issues. Not everyone under 4 foot 9 has dwarfism. Just as not everyone who has a pear shape has lipedema. It's just I often see people making the argument that a drawing of a women is "unrealistic". I just thought I should point out, "no... it is realistic. What are they really complaining about?"

When I was in high school many moons ago there was this principal's assistant that had the most outrageous pear shaped figure you've ever seen. I mean, her bottom half was twice the circumference of her top half and her ass was incredibly wide and blocky looking. Two of her kids went to the school, a boy and a girl, and they looked the same way, must have been something genetic.

If I was making a video game and paid a very beautiful model to portray the character, I would try to make the outfit skimpy as possible.

Well, the first law of capitalism is to appeal to as many people as possible. And considering the popularity of this:

I'm inclined to say that you're right, along with a few other reasons.

Abby from The Last of Us is unrealistic.

There's always been lots of talk around Dragon's Crown and i think it's an interesting topic as along with the DmC controversy it was the first pre-GG example of game journalists and their social justice allies losing hard (and that's probably why it keeps getting dragged up by both sides), but ultimately the reason behind the exaggerated designs is very simple: in a 2d brawler the protaganist characters need an easily identifyable silhouette so players can follow the action on screen, this is also one of the reasons Indivisible was a flop.

Having easily identifiable silhouettes for the entities in the game is one of the most important things when it comes to visual design. Particularly on a fast-paced game, you really want to spend as little time as possible guessing whether that shape on the screen is your character, an ally, or an enemy.

What is dangerous is not fiction itself, it's those who can't tell apart fiction and reality.
You can read stories with dragons, magic and sexy witches without believing about their existence.
It's common sense but seems it has to be reminded for some people out there... BABD is helpless

I wonder if any of these losers ever complained about beautiful women in real life?
Yes. I remember during GamerGate when there were complaints about a protein ad being "unrealistic", despite being a photo of a model. If you google "Beach Body Ready" you'll get lots of results of the ad in question.
