Since my previous thread kinda-sorta turned into a soft megathread, and the tech layoffs will continue until morale improves, I think it's better to group them all together.

For those who want a QRD:

Just this week we've had these going on:

But it's not just Big Tech, the vidya industry is also cleaning house bigly:

All in all, rough seas ahead for the techbros.

I haven't been to a GameStop in YEARS, but I remember a long time ago they used to push this magazine on people like fucking crazy when you became a member of GameStop and got their little black card (which as the years went on their "benefits" became more shittier).

The issues themselves USED to hold up to their name, but as the years went on, there really wasn't anything "informative" about them, not to mention the internet and random joe shmoe on YouTube were doing a better job than these guys.

Good move by the company. Get that bitch out of there.
The face of dead weight.

Retweets are nothing but Destiny marketing and troon coworkers complaining about being shitcanned. Runs an Instagram for her dog, so I'm sure she was highly valued in a tech company.

Techbros, we are so fucking back.
Hardly. The CEO's have realised that WFH is a legal loophole for visas; now the indians can stay in their call centres in india while working for silicon valley.

Well done, WFH bros, I tried warning you. Enjoy being replaced by foreign workers.

I wonder if they've ever considered the alternative option of "making CPUs that don't draw hundreds of watts, catch fire, destroy themselves over time, have major vulnerabilities and spyware, and could potentially compete with AMD's offerings" instead of just saying "fuck it, ship these self-rusting 12th and 13th generation CPUs and ignore/refuse RMA's, force speeds higher with more power consumption, oh and fire all these engineers."
Apple switching to their own processors is the best thing they’ve done in a long time. The intel macbooks from 2016-2019 were loud, hot as hell, and had mediocre battery life. The new models with Apple processors run cool, quiet, and the battery life is superb.

I keep telling people to do the needful and the return to the office but they all joined the union and started making demands. We’re now skipping India and using machine learning to replace them.

Sorry, curry bros, we redeemed the AI to not even give you a chance.

Worse. The current fad is "near shoring". Indians want too much money. Gotta get those contractors from central america. And they are on the same time zone as you, so that will resolve all the issues right?!

Also you would think it would be a buyers marker but candidates when i do interviews are worse than ever.

Another question I have in general is does the big emphasis on Big Tech in the Bay Area really help or hurt it in the long run? I know that it has the concentration of the some of the most valuable companies in the world, but what good is that if the whole industry makes is so pricey for all who live that even with beyond generous salaries not being able to afford a house?
It actually inflates the salaries of everyone, but the people making $0 still make zero, so you get a great deal of income disparity. Most people who grow up in the Bay Area will have no choice but to leave it if they want to make money themselves.

Your post makes no sense. If they’re in call centers they’re not WFH. Companies have always been able to use international labor, that’s not the issue. The issue is that companies were worried about their engineers not being as productive. Engineers and other high level positions don’t have a lot of oversight (as they generally don’t need it). Remote working also potentially creates a lot of tax headaches (most of the concern is overblown though).

The next time you get a medical insurance claim reviewed/denied it will likely be by a nurse or doctor living in the Philippines. Medical coding used to be done by real RN's in US offices but since WFH started during covid they just used that infrastructure to off shore it.

The groundwork was laid out for this when they got PH RN licenses cross honored with US ones to help with the made up "nursing shortage".
That shortage is about as real as the programmer shortage. There is no shortage of XYZ trained workers in the USA.. There is just a shortage of those skilled people who are willing to work for $12.50 an hour.

I think you got it wrong - word on the street is that the juice is not worth the squeeze, when it comes to outsourcing to India. This isn't the early '00s anymore.

More companies are looking at Central and Latin America for talent, especially North American companies - they're on the same timezones, MUCH BETTER cultural fits and an even better English proficiency. And the $ difference isn't that much.

If anything, pajeets are just about to get BTFO.

Indian callcentres was a nod to what happened in the UK - and I'm sure elsewhere, in the late 90s/early 00s where every major company moved their call centres to India because it was cheaper than paying locals. They were able to do this because of the advancements call tech.

Exactly same will happen with WFH. 90% of WFH jobs can be done remotely; IE anywhere it's cheap labour.

Ya I think your are correct on this fact.
With the call center I deal with on a day to day they went from the northern rustbelt, to the deep south, to India, and then to Mexico. And now AI is chipping away at the beaners job.
"Based on your previous calls, we believe you are trying to..."

In the circles I'm in, the vibe is fairly based so I can't really say for sure. Either way, good. :story:

The neo-trad thing is kind of cringe, especially since it coexists with all kinds of degenerate things that absolutely aren't compatible with any good religious lifestyle (not just ultratrad or fundamentalist), but can't fault tech companies for dropping wokists/trannies/autogynephiles/furfags in favor of anyone who at least professes to be a good christian (or at least a well-adjusted person)
