Sadly it's made by faggots with a groomcord.
Fuck this series and fuck this fanbase. Everything's downhill After conviction.
They cut out the Guts spit scene and made him grin and talk about his le trauma instead, fuck these people. It was a Decent adaptation until that.

And then faggots in the groomcord are those trannies who think The Black Swordsman is the weakest arc, like no you dumb fuckin retard it sets up the tone of the whole fucking story. Kill yourself???

They can handle Guts choking Casca later, but they can't handle pissed off Guts after the Eclipse, after a betrayal that will obviously change a man. I like Guts in the black swordsman, I don't care how edgy it is. Its dark fantasy. I'm fucking tired of faggots who leech this series and shit all over the arc that started it all. It's very well written, very well contained within the story and fits perfectly into the story in a way I never saw a story do better. It's more than good. It's as good as Golden Age, in my opinion. People just favor Golden Age and shit on Black Swordsman because it's what some video essayists or trannies say I guess.

I think the idea is cool, but the fact that they are changing things, making Guts talk about trauma or whatever, sounds lame. It becomes fan fiction once that starts happening, a creative can argue it’s a, “depiction,” all they want, won’t make it true. It may be too harsh, but imo, once you start taking creative liberties like inventing a trauma talk that doesn’t exist, you’re firmly in fanfic land. I read above that the project is run by Discord troons? If so, I’m not surprised that they just can’t help themselves with creative liberties. The animation quality was decent enough, from what I could actually see of it, I only lasted about 7 minutes before I gave up & started skimming the video, it was too dark to watch. Dark screen syndrome is the most ridiculous trend to ever catch on, 9 out of 10 shows in the last decade suffer from it, too. If you can’t see the work, it defeats the purpose.

Never liked the Golden Age arc. Reminded me of Cerebus where I dropped it shortly into the second part of High Society.

I wanted more Realpolitik Conan the Aardvark, not ugly people plotting endlessly against other ugly people (ugly inside).

What didn't you like about it? Or are you just sharing hot takes again.

The Golden Age arc isn't some deep political intrigue, it's Guts rejecting Griffith once and Griffith responding by becoming a rapist.

Not fan of politics especially amongst unlikeable assholes.

I'd say "condemning all your friends to be eaten alive" was worse than rape. IDK maybe I'm too stupid to appreciate intrigues, they bore me to death.

I think you're too stupid to understand Berserk. Maybe if it were a space opera like Star wars you'd fucking understand the golden age better.

It's not that complicated of a story, and frankly I think the latest spot we're at in the story is boring political trite before warfare, it's not as strong as assassination plots and acquiring a kingdom through power like in golden age.

Some are so stupid, they correlate being jaw-breakingly bored by stories where nothing happens but mendacious people playing social status games against each other with IQ. But yeah, in the middle of the second book of Cerebus the Aardvark's second arc I was so confused about what's going on I gave up. Didn't help that the most sympathetic character of all was the titular rude alcoholic lunkhead with anger issues, everyone else was so unlikeable he came off like a hero by comparison just by speaking his fucking mind.

There used to be this meme along Berserk fans ~7 years ago that you should skip the Black Swordsman arc the first time you read it. I guess this comes from both earlier anime adaptions ignoring it for the most part. I always found the idea to just skip the beginning of a story, because apparently the author only got it right several chapters in extremly silly.
Corkus was great yeah.
I love Corkus simply for his VA in the German dub for the Golden Age OVAs. Whenever I read the manga I just hear the VA voice in my head because it just fits so perfectly.

I kept seeing Cerebus at the bookstore and wanting to check it out but being deterred by how many volumes there were.

Later I would find out that while it's one of the best looking American comics in terms of ink, the latter half is literally just 100 chapters of a guy complaining about his ex wife, while insisting women are the ones that are too emotional lol.
What a fuckin waste.

Anyway the point of all the politics in golden age is to show what kind of person Griffith really is.
When everything is going great and his men are happy he can justify doing monstrous things, but soon he starts doing things that are unjustifiable. Killing Julius and his son was arguably in retaliation for an assassination attempt, but kidnapping Foss's daughter, trying to kill Guts when he leaves, and grooming and raping Charlotte are all completely selfish and cruel acts.
It works to show why he would eventually sacrifice the band of the hawk, because he had always had that inside of him but it only showed itself when he had lost everything.

raping Charlotte
Didn't she really want his D? She also seemed to be very happy to see him again years later.

This is also very important for Fantasia, since it establishes that Griffith would do the same to his kingdom if he ever got into a dilemma.

Yeah but she's underage, didn't know he murdered her cousin and stepmother, and he only wants to use her to secure his kingdom.
She's clueless and annoying but she's also been groomed into loving him.
She was 16-18 and even as a burger you have to admitt that in a medieval setting this would already be considered adult hood.
My interpretation of Griffith banging her is, that he was massively just coping that his top guy left. He was thinking something like "I can have anything, I can even have the princess so why can't I have guts?".

Gotta admit it's pretty funny that as soon as Guts leaves, Griffith crashes out so hard trying to prove he can have anything he wants that he gets himself locked away in a torture/rape cell because his literal get-out-of-jail-free-card was gone. Smooth move, retard.

That's dumb. I think it does a fantastic job of establishing the setting and the kinda person Guts is(at that point). Immediately hooks you with this intrigue about Griffith and the Godhand and how Guts is connected to it all.

The writing is great tho'. Read the first volume (before it devolves into politics) if you want Conan, but it's less Dungeons & Dragons and more Taxes & Traitors. A "deconstruction" of a Sword & Sorcery story, to cite TV Tropes which don't know what the word actually means. You can always read spoilers just to know how insane turns this basic story takes later. I gave up because there was absolutely no likeable character to root for, all including the protagonist were wall-to-wall assholes. Got enought of that IRL, thank you very much.

Mein Niggler we have church records proving most young people married in their 20s, the marriages between 13yolds was a thing for nobility solely as a way to forge alliances. One of the English kings famously married a kid while being very old himself and he never consumed the marriage.

Chapter 384 is awful. I fucking hate the revelation!

So Guts was always equal to reborn Griffith. 🙄 I wish he would have stayed a human who went trough horrible events but always kept fighting. That's what I loved about Berserk.

According to his buddy Mori, Miura struggled with the idea for 20 years. Him struggling for so long means that it wasn't ready to be implemented or perhaps was never even supposed to. Hell, even Mori stated that he found the idea "challenging".

I wish Guts would have found a smart way to fight Griffith instead of getting told "The power was always within you!1" This trope is so fucking lame and so is the way Guts learns the truth. 🙄 It's all so lazy. Miura probably would have done the revelation differently or not at all. Maybe I wouldn't hate what has been revealed so much if he was still working on Berserk.
