Couldn't they make something more memorable like a rabbit weapon charm?
Weapon charms are shit. In all games.

But yes, they could have. Had BF4 not come under fire by China for (gasp!) choosing to have China be the villains, we'd probably get something better.

Patch 3.2, which includes the "CLASS UPDATE" will be going live this Tuesday, literally on the very last day of January. Mackay is also getting significant nerfs (reduced Grapple Gun range, and reduced bonus movement speed when ADS'd when using heavier weapons) as well.

The Season 4 map's location appears to have been datamined, and will be located in South Africa. Given the whole "US vs. Russia" conflict, it's very strange that the closest to a US map that BF2042 got was Exposure (Canada), and I don't think we got a map located in Russia either. Although the teased BF4 remake map may cover the Russia part, as it's unlikely that a Chinese map will be remade, due to China getting so butthurt about BF4's 1st DLC, that they banned the game outright there.

I wonder how the class system will affect the gameplay.

Can we appreciate how Bad Company 1, Hardline and 1 managed to subvert the modern military game trope that has plagued FPSs for so long?

There's something about the bluegrass music and carefree dialogue in Bad Company that has a charm to it.
The two Bad Company games had the best OST of the franchise.

Well, the Support class really has everyone by the balls now imo, seeing as they are the only source of ammo replenishment anymore. The changes look promising and I'm interested in seeing what they do for placing value between archetypes, but that change bothered me a little. It's good to see RPGs go Engineer-exclusive though.

In other news the Claymore's back.

How soon until EA games start profiting off the Ukraine war officially like they did with the global War on terror with the Medal of Honor reboot series? There are already Ukraine War Battlefield 2 mods. People selling Ukraine war merchandise like Pro-Ukraine T-shirts and bumper stickers probably made more profit than the WW2 era and post-9/11 merchandise.

I don't see that happening anytime soon. Remember that EA depicted China as an adversary in 4, which resulted in an indirect ban from Chinese marketplaces. If they do, it'd likely being a rewriting of history a la Battlefield V or Vanguard.

Wasn't there a FPS out there that loosely depicted Ukrainian or Eastern European (not including Russia) conflict?

There's a handful of junkware games on Steam. I can't specifically recall a major title having Ukraine as a major player.

The M39 EMR vault weapon is glitched, in that it one-shot headshot kills, and 2-shot bodyshot kills, if equipped with a supressor. Normally, it's a 2/3-shot kill respectively.

DICE also made an Stealth change to the Drum Mag, making the ADS speed on a gun with it twice as slow (although you can get around that by double tapping the ADS button). The ADS speed is so slow, that ADSing an LMG with a regular magazine is faster.

However, people hated that change, and DICE said that they'll revert this nerf in the future:

Thats almost as hilarious as the battlefield 3 glitch where underbarrel shotguns shells were more deadly than anything else

  • In patch 1.04, the M26 MASS was affected by a glitch in that substantially increased or decreased the damage of the weapon if a player equipped the MASS on their weapon's Underslung Rail while also using a Heavy Barrel. The glitch essentially made it so that when the MASS is fired, each pellet had the same damage of a single shot from the main weapon allowing for a potential maximum damage of 403 if used in conjunction with a G3A3, while at the same time making it so a slug round does the damage of a single assault rifle shot, making it very ineffective. This glitch grew worse when using the M26 DART. DICE had acknowledged this as an unintended feature and removed it via the 1.05 patch.

The javelin is just useless in BF2042.

I guess that's what I saw on Reddit when I was looking for something.

There's a funny glitch when flying Lis's TGM into Dozer's shield. It just tries to go forward in place on his shield, until you turn it. Apparently, DICE calculated the fuel consumption on the TGM by distance traveled, and not by the time traveled.

The first video below is from Lis's POV, and the second is from a different Dozer's POV:

DICE released a Developer Q&A today, stating their plans for BF2042. The notable details include:
  • They don't plan on making a snownado event on Breakaway, but haven't ruled out the idea.
  • They will make more tweaks to the Specialists and the Classes that they are in. The Javelin is a weapon that they have their eyes on in particular.
  • There are hints that Paik may be reworked, to serve better in the CQC Recon role.
  • They don't plan to include a Wrench UI icon, to identify if a teammate can repair vehicles.
  • In regards to the final two base game maps that haven't been reworked yet, Discarded and Hourglass, they are still looking in to reworking them. In the case of Hourglass, the map may be shrunken in size, given that maps in BF2042 (Hourglass in particular) have the issue where they are so large, that they literally hit the prop limits. That was also why the Distribution Center on Renewal was changed into an Out-of-bounds area, after the map was reworked.
  • They are looking in to making the loading screens smoother, and not the jump into another loading screen deal as is now.
  • They don't plan on re-adding helicopters to Breakthrough, although that decision could be up to the players.
  • They plan to re-add Squad Management features.
  • The 2042 narrative will be continued in Season 5. (if it happens, of course)
  • They will not bring back 128 player Breakthrough as a Standard game mode, due to that game mode being "too chaotic".

The problem with Hourglass is the skyscrapers. Snipers can headshot people from the other side of the map.

If they could fix her face, that would be nice.

A bit of sadder news, which sort-of pertains to Battlefield, Tony "Thick44" Schnur of Neebs Gaming, who voiced Recon in the BFF videos, has passed away, after fighting cancer:

He will be missed. I always liked how his character was the "straight man" of the squad with varying patience.
