I always got joy blowing the c4 on the MCOM when the defenders rushed in to disarm. Killing them all. Get the second batch of c4 on it before they can regroup.

Rush always had the issue of not enough people pushing to attack and just sitting back sniping. Which is another reason I hated the plant and defend approach after BC2.

That said, in BC2, BF3/4. So many rounds of Rush were won entirely by me getting all or almost all the MCOM arms. Yet you didn't get rewarded. Idiots I'd play with would mock my 5 kills to 30 deaths. Yet I literally won the round for the team.
that's why operations is still the best mode, it combines the cockroach-gameplay running all over the place of conquest with the focus of rush.

especially since rush was always the bare fucking minimum with ZERO fucking randomization or variance, EVERY MAP is the fucking same. all they'd have to do is spawn them randomly.

DICE posted a Battlefield Briefing, explaining the changes that will be made for BF2042's Season 3. The changes include:

  • Two Portal guns will be added to AOW, the XM8 and AN-96.
  • Free-to-Play weekends will be made in December.
  • BF2042 will be added to XBox Game Pass and EA Play.
  • The "Class system", where the Specialists will be put in "Classes", will be implemented. Bonuses include Faster recovery from Sprinting with ARs for Assault, Longer hold breath for Recon, Larger mags and improved bipods for Supports, and some sort of utility weapon bonus for Engineers. Also, Crawford will be moved to the Engineer role, and Irish will be moved to the Support role.
  • Rao's hacking will be seen for the rest of his team as well.
  • Reworks to Manifest, and Breakaway.
  • The new map for Season 3 is rumored to be Close Quarters.
They also said that support will be continued after the mandated Season 4, but I won't hold my breath on that.

The dumb thing is, they should add all 4 Close Quarters, not just Ziba Tower, which I assume is the first one they'd choose.

While I was initially annoyed when CQ was announced, those maps were fantastic. I could sit in a playlist and play them endlessly. Those 4 maps alone were better than basically any COD.

They have finally found the tech that allows them to have double EXP week-ends. It also works in solo/co-op.

Finally got to play Zeebrugge yesterday, some of these DLC maps are very rare to see a game on. It's really neat how much effort they put in to this map in particular, down to the blown up bridge and a trashed HMS Vindictive rammed against the side of the pier. I'd recommend looking up the IRL raid, it's a brilliant tale.

Brief historical video on Zeebrugge raid

Video comparing historical photographs to the BF1 map
Still one of my favorite maps in the game, especially on Shock Operations.

Is Hardline still active these days? I tried playing a while back, but I couldn't really get any games.
Glad you asked.

What platform are you playing or considering?

On Xbox, there are a few servers active. Mainly a 24/7 extended Downtown server, Team Deathmatch and Conquest. It's most active in afternoon/evening (EST); I see Hotwire and the occasional Blood Money. A few hundred people, a thousand at most.

Good luck with DLC; you'd need to find a group that regularly hosts servers for it.

PS4, actually. I had the game a while back, but after I couldn't find any games - not even on TDM - I ended up trading it back in. I want to give it another shot, but does PS4 have anyone even on it anymore?

2042 is now on Game Pass. How is it now? I imagine it's still broken.
I played it for the first time for a couple of days, then I uninstalled it and went back to other BFs. It is shit compared to them. The new map is bad, just a couple of large buildings in the middle of nowhere with 4 or 5 smaller locations, with just grass between them and nothing else.

You can't throw grenades like before with the press of a button, you need to pull them out and you throw them stupidly far away. The gunplay feels inferior, barely any guns compared to other BFs.
The movement is inferior to BFV, instead of improving/keeping what they had, they downgraded it, as well as removing field fortifications, which were great imo. They downgraded the BFV revive animations to just being a charge-up of defibrillators.

The moment that made me decide to uninstall it was when I was playing on the Dubai map, and had to spend a minute running up a sand dune to get on top of the stadium,. with nothing around me. It made me realise how shit and bare that game was and that I'd be spending my time better by playing other BFs instead.

Despite that, I'd recommend you play it yourself through gamepass if you already have it so that you can experience how shit it is yourself, that's the best deterrence imo, but obviously if you don't have gamepass don't buy it.

I still play it now and then. Not sure why but I prefer the gameplay to CoD since frontlines are a little more established (even though it's more CoD-like than ever before).

Would love it if they just visually remastered 3 or 4 and gave them new servers. The Portal versions don't count since they're basically 2042 skins, and I say that despite liking the Plus system.

The gunplay is really bad but somehow when you play in co-op with bots the feeling is way better, the hit registration actually works.

I've encountered a problem with BF3 and Hardline on xbox gamepass. They both need to be launched through EA Play, but then they just open battlelog in browser and demand to be launched through Origin, but when I do that it doesn't see me owning the games on gamepass . Am I just fucked and unable to play them with it?
