Battlefield 2042 is free-to-play this weekend on XBox. I see that EA's at it again with trying to pad up the player base:

I do wonder why EA chose to make it F2P on XBox though. Is it so more people can "Experience" the game that people have given "Brutal Expectations" for?

Takes me back to BFV days when they tried to control the conversation by asking how to what was it? Move forward with the conversation or some shit like that?

People told them to shove it and let people discuss what they want to discuss.

A former DICE dev put a poll on Twitter, asking if players would be interested in a BF4 Remaster:

And while there is no doubts at all that there's demand from the community for such, given the current state of DICE and EA, they most likely won't be able to make a BF4 Remaster that will live up to the good parts of the original game. Also, content would most likely be removed, i.e. any mentions of China, to avoid triggering the CCP like how BF4 originally got banned in China because of one of the DLCs, and the usual wokefest that has manifested itself in DICE's later releases would be forced additions to the game.

Checking the r/battlefield2042 subreddit to see what kind of drama was unfolding in the "message from the mod team" post and I saw this.

The only other posts of interest was that he may have exposed himself to asbestos once and freaked out, overall nothing else of interest other then possible new zealand resident and mod of many subs. Am I surprised? No, and neither should you. Jannies gonna jan, and I hope they shut it down because it would be funny. Everyday it seems this game brings enjoyment in the form of not playing it and watching the community implode.

On the subreddits most recent post about moderation, a user called u/vex54 has posted an imgur link with these screens uploaded. I have decided to archive this post and also the main post. I have confirmed that it is the moderators u/SuitingUncle620 discord account, I HAVE NO EVIDENCE OF THIS OCCURING ON THE BF2042 DISCORD AND HAVE NO CERTAINTY OF WHERE IT ORIGINATED FROM, IT MAY BE FAKED MESSAGES BUT NONE THE LESS FUNNY TO ME.

Update on the pedo thing, the guy posted claiming it's not true. Also the thread got locked and almost all comments about it got deleted because reasons.

I'll give 2042 one thing: It is actually providing tons of entertainment, just not from the actual game itself.

anthem mostly had surface issues that were pretty much all fixed, all that was needed then was content - new maps and shit to grind for, it's a looter shooter after all. the "rebuild" was the typical EA/bioware idiocy of "oh, people didn't like to play a buggy ass game with buggy ass mechanics at launch we've already fixed long ago?! we gotta revamp everything!". then they looked at the bill and the lukewarm response even from fans (because changing a game they already like always is a surefire way to get those people on board) and scrapped it.

2042 is a fundamental wreck that would take a lot more work to get solid and it's EA's premier FPS brand, not some offshot destiny clone from a has-been studio that's a laughing stock for close to a decade and which no one gave a shit about in the first place. not to mention I don't really see any fans (I don't count retarded normies that play anything with a high enough marketing budget as fans), anyone else has either moved on or moved back to the better battlefields (even including V of all things), so who would a fixed 2042 be for?
plus, after the double whammy of V + 2042 it's debatable how salvageable the brand itself is, dice already skirted the edge when they shat out 4 in the worst state a battlefield ever released, but given how much fixing that cost EA and how much it fucked with their schedule I doubt they're willing to do it again (and again...).

remaster? nigga what? take that console shit and shove it up your ass, BF4 is still perfectly fine and playable, I can still play 1942 if I wanted to.
that's some bitch ass "oh noes, quick, namedrop a game people liked to distract them" (also bf4 was crap, bf3 was always better).

I am going to get so much shit for this...... Im actually enjoying 2042 on ps4. My folks got it for Christmas, and against my low ass expectations, there was a lot of fun to be had. ( I must preference this by saying the ps4 has had a huge dirth of good, large scale multiplayer and I was getting sick and tired of what little we had.)


Now I know, its an absolute mess, I will not deny that. But, I cant help but love it. Style wise, it's like somebody took an autistic Gi Joe cartoon made by a 3rd grader, and tried to make it dark and edgy without actually making it dark and edgy. Gameplay wise, I dont particularly care about the lack of classes because I can play the same way I always do and just swap out guns as needed,. The gunplay itself really doesn't seem that bad to me, but its likely they've patched it from launch.


It is however, frankly INSANE to me that they didn't make the PORTAL a bigger deal. I do enjoy 2042 for what it is, but they honestly should have put everything they had into portal and canceled 2042.

I got so much nostalgia from playing bad company, 1942 and 3 all over again. If the level cap wasn't so stringent, and if they had more maps, I would wholeheartedly recommend getting it for the custom server browser and portal.

It's good to see someone enjoying the game, for what it is, even though I didn't buy it (due to having the strong feeling that it was going to suck, and BF games weren't on my mind prior to BF2042's release), as the game does have those Battlefield Moments, if it works correctly, which is sadly very rare.

DICE also apparently forgot which direction the sun sets and rises in this game.

And DICE provided a handy tutorial for how to play Conquest, as apparently people that were playing the game since BF1942 were doing it wrong this whole time:

The last DICE title to release in a solid and noncontroversial state...

I'm quite fond of what Battlefront II became however, and I'll hate DICE for clipping its wings when it was more popular than ever.
