I fail to see the point of this, the main problem with Conquest & Breakthrough were the spaced out objectives.

128 players isn't an inherently bad thing, in fact it's actually one of the few sensible ideas DICE had with this game, but the maps are far too large to take advantage of that. In the "beta" and GamePass trial, I spent far more time trying to reach firefights than I had when Battlefield only had 64 players.

Short of them placing artificial boundaries on the current maps to cut down on bloat, the only way to make 128 players work is to have future maps be more condensed than the vanilla maps, or at least place the objectives closer to each other.
that wasn't a problem with bf2 tho, and would usually lead to more clearly designed fronts. it's not the space, it's the nu-battlefield players that turn every match into TDM.

It looks like EA is trying to pad the player base numbers in desperate fashion, but this will probably lead to more negative reviews on Steam.

Also, this new player card is available for all people who log in to the game, along with this "Lore":

The world is under calamity with climate change or what have you, yet we have a discount Santa Claus with a non-binary operator killing non-PATs with guns that don't even work.

Did 2042 predict the future?

And I thought Homefront predicted the future, getting things right such as rising gas prices (although it hasn't reached the $20/gal levels, yet), an Asian virus wiping out millions of people, and the January 6 Capitol Run-In.

I don't remember that last part in Homefront. I thought it was the Koreas uniting and TAKING America by force. I don't remember a virus (unless you're talking about The Revolution, I've never played that one.)

In the intro video to Homefront, it mentions things such as an Avian flu (a reference to the SARS flu on steroids) killing millions of people, an attempted mass American emigration to Mexico (which lead to Mexico effectively closing their border with the US in response), as well as America going into Marshall Law (and people protesting against that) following the US Dollar crashing in value. Those events all happened prior to the united Korea invading the US.

to be fair it's easy to predict stuff like that, civil unrest happens for a reason, and as the romans figured out 2000 years ago it comes down to bread and circuses.

>wait a minute, those assets...

It's most likely going to suck, but at least it will live up to it's premise.
probably, but there's still a low chance it might be silly fun. literally all people want is point ant shoot stuff (apparently it's SP tho), something the "professionals" at dice have a hard time figuring out and create.

A dataminer has looked into BF2042's files, and saw that there are 12 preseason weeks, hinting that Season 1 of BF2042 will start in March. There also appears to be hints about the new upcoming "Ridge" map in Season 1, presumably named "Exposure:"

If EA and DICE actually make players wait until March for new content, not only did they not learn from BF5, but I'm not sure how many people will still be playing the game by that time, let alone if Season 1 will bring players back to the game.

Speaking of map names, why do the BF2042 map names sound so boring, with them only being one word? It's as if DICE is doing the minimal effort to even name the poorly-designed maps. Heck, even BF4's Propaganda map, despite it being one word, sounds cooler, given that it takes place in North Korea.

Ok, now I'm positive that there's a deliberate plan to sabotage Battlefield going on at EA and DICE.

Paving the way for another IP to take its place such as Medal of Honor or Titanfall, or do they get off on killing BF?

Fucking March to get a new map, even Battlefield V got a new map sooner than that. This game's a fucking circus.

something something malice and incompetence

dice and EA might be full of retards, but there must be at least some that understand (re-)establishing a new IP is extremely expensive, and completely dumb if you already got a high value brand. they already tried to make MoH a thing, twice and failed. same could be said about titanfall, and while the opinion about tf is much better (not to mention all the cod-zoomers don't even know about MoH) that doesn't necessarily mean it's a big IP (and most of the people that made tf what it was either left or moved on to apex, so be careful what you wish for).

Worth getting 2042 on sale? Can get it for £23 on the epic store right now.
>EGS
why? it uses origin anyway, might as well buy it there. you could get bf1 and bfv, premium each, for 5€ a while back.

Medal of Honor hasn't been relevant since the Bush administration. Killing Battlefield to prop up either that or Titanfall would be hilarious levels of suicide.

Wasn't that Call of Duty BEFORE Call of Duty (the WW2 games?)

Yes. Call of Duty's original developer, Infinity Ward, was founded by several developers who made the first Metal of Honor PC game, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.
The original CoD games had an emphasis on "no one fights alone". You were just a small cog in a larger machine. A foot soldier. Very different than Medal of Honor, where Jimmy Patterson single handedly defeated Germany; a more grounded BJ Blazkowicz. It was its main draw (at least for me) and part of the reason why Metal of Honor petered out a few years later.

Flashforward to today's Call of Duty, where for the last 10+ years its been nonstop super secret special forces fart huffing tattooed quirky action heroes killing thousands upon thousands of slavs/brown people without breaking a sweat.
Its the same decision EA made with BF 2042.
