I miss that mod so much. Boarding actions were the most atmospheric thing ever, and there's never been quite anything else like that in terms of other games' map design. You would fly or crash-land your way from outer space directly into the enemy capital ship or space station's cavernous hangar/flight deck, which had these panoramic views of the space outside. Sometimes there would be an intense 32-man firefight awaiting you on the hangar deck, with everyone on both teams chucking grenades everywhere and parking dropships in the hangar to use as mobile MG pillboxes and spawnpoints until they got ion cannon'ed to flaming scrap. Other times, there would just be some desultory sniping and skirmishing from a handful of guys, with everyone else busy dogfighting in space, so you could sneak off and infiltrate deep into the bowels of the ship or station and solo capture subsystems and spawnpoints to singlehandedly turn the tide of the battle.

In 2142, the Titan boarding almost always turned into a huge slog due to the choke points and bottlenecks, and in Angels Fall First, when you board enemy ships, it just teleports you into the corridor by the airlock.
This kind of stuff was in the OG Battlefront 2.

That's on my list to replay after I get the hang of V.

What's your platform? I ask because I want to see if it's still decently populated.
Xbox for me, and both 1 & 4 were decently populated when I played them a few months back.

I had to use server browser to find full matches for DLC maps, but they were more active than I expected.

I have Xbox as well. Battlefield 4 I'm hearing peak player counts since the announcement of 2042. I hope Battlefield 1 has the same love.

Don't try to search for Firestorm in V. Nobody is playing it; you'll spend more time waiting in lobbies and running around the map compared to actually engaging the enemy.

Team Deathmatch and Conquest are the most popular game modes in V. I managed to find a few matches of Outpost.

100 GB for a demo/beta?

Dice finally updated the community with new stuff.

Even Battlefield V got an update about 2042.

There's a map in Battlefield V that I'm loving at the moment: Operation Underground. You're fighting on top of a subway and in the subway itself. It's quite versatile for short range sniping and CQC with shotguns (if you can use them properly.)

Today, in advance of the release of Battlefield 2042 this November, EA announced the Battlefield Community Charter, a set of guidelines developed with the stated aim of “ensuring Battlefield remains a welcoming experience that encourages Positive Play.” Positive Play is EA’s set of initiatives which aim to “help keep games fair and fun for everyone.” The Charter not only outlines a series of principles to which players are expected to adhere, but also consequences for those players who fail to adhere to those principles.
Adam Freeman, Lead Community Manager at EA, tweeted out an update for the Battlefield community in which he told players that “Toxicity, Harassment, Cheating and Exploiting can get in the Bin.” He also linked to an EA community blog post that provides further details on the company’s efforts to guarantee players a fun and fair gameplay experience.

EA’s community charter detailed four expectations the company has for players within the Battlefield community:

  • Treat Others As They Would Like To Be Treated
  • Keep Things Fair
  • Share Appropriate Content
  • Keep Things Honorable
EA’s efforts to uphold these precepts in Battlefield 2042 include not just standard tools like the option to mute specific individuals in-game, but also a profanity filter for in-game text chat which will be permanently active, seemingly without the option for players to turn it off if so desired. I can already imagine the lengths players will go to get a couple no-no words past the filter.

G/O Media may get a commission
In his tweets, Freeman also stated that the tools for reporting players who break the rules has been improved for Battlefield 2042 to make them “easier to access, and clearer as to what you’re reporting.”

Of course, all of this emphasis on good behavior might not mean much if there weren’t stated consequences for flaunting the rules. The Battlefield Community Charter concludes by detailing what may happen to players who violate those rules, including potentially having their access revoked “to certain or all EA Services.” Repeat or severe offenses may result in permanent account deletion. Because Battlefield 2042 has cross-play functionality, if a cheater is sanctioned, EA said they will be permanently banned across all platforms.

Only time will tell whether players will uphold EA’s standards, but the company has made it exceedingly clear that players better not be dicks to one another while they play the objective, or else.

Why bother expressing criticism at this point? People are going to bitch, then they'll eventually cave and buy it. The cycle repeats.

If you're buying shit like this you're literally getting what you fucking deserve.

There's a million fps games out there. Pick one that isn't woke shit if you don't like woke shit.

There's already plenty of reasons not to buy EA games, but that hasn't stopped anyone. EA can get away with just about anything because of these Consoomers.

Remember BF5 was released as an "early access" title, with a promising road map, then got cancelled before Omaha Beach or Easten Front were even released because lol fuck customers. Whoever preordered or planning to buy BF2042 full priced is retarded and deserves to be doxxed and mocked.

Pirate this shit, quick buying it and complaining jeeze.

I can't wait for the preorder retards to start whining about their bans after they paid $400 for whatever trash comes bundles with this cash grab.
