Baltimore Riots: RACE WAR 2-1-5

As you kiwi's know today protests erupted in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray. Like the Mike Brown shit, cops beat up a black dude, killed him and now another riot, arguably worse then what happened in Ferguson, happened. The National Guard was called in a few hours ago so we'll see how this progresses since this is only day were there has been widespread rioting.

Thoughts on the current Race War?

Why riot it your own neighborhood? You lose a shit ton more then you gain(nothing).

Calling in the National Guard may be a less retarded solution than beating up journalists just trying to do their job. I guess we'll see the results.

As easy as it is to feel contempt for the victims in some of these cases (Michael Brown was a legit thug), cops are more and more acting like an occupying army rather than protectors. In as many cases as not, these are as much police riots as anything. I have no reason to

It's decades of the drug wars plus the post-9/11 bullshit, but the increasingly arrogant and out of touch police are just not doing their jobs. Keeping the order is their job. If there isn't order, they haven't done it.

Also, Baltimore is the asshole of the universe once you step out of the Inner Harbor and other tourist areas, if you've never been there.

Saw a video of it. Wow, what a time to live in.

That aside, I just saw some posts on Facebook of people rationalizing the riots while saying "WELL WHITE PEOPLE HAVE RIOTED OVER MORE DUMB SHIT". Honestly, white or black, destroying private or public property is never a good thing regardless of reasons.

I'm gonna try keep this brief.

Protests are an attempt to prevent riots. Riots are an attempt to prevent murders.

You have people who are being murdered by police officers or random trigger happy people. They seek justice via traditional means and nothing happens. They protest and nothing happens. And they're still being attacked and murdered. This isn't rocket science. Nor is it trying to be edgy.

At what point do these people just start firing back?

The anger has to go somewhere. And for now we're lucky that it only goes to CVSs or the liquor store.

I harp on this because I strongly desire everyone to leave in peace. Regardless of color or creed, I want everyone to live healthy and full lives.

But mark my words. Quote me on this: Without extensive reform this will be one of the last non-lethal riots we see in the country.

I'm not talking a race war or anything like that. But what I am saying is people will actually begin to kill cops ala what happened in Brooklyn.
 
The worst thing that the protesters could do would be to pick a fight with police.

No one wins and once the shooting starts and the "protesters" would very quickly be gunned down by either the National Guard or the SWAT teams.

Violence is never the answer to civil problems; discourse is the only hope.

But like Lefty I agree that the riots will only get worse in the future.
 
Nonviolence is useful because it can mobilize a larger number of people than violent tactics.
Gandhi and MLK both espoused nonviolence not because it lets you feel morally superior to the person killing you, but because a massive number of people who simply refuse to obey is much more effective than a small group of radicals trying to kill everyone that is the problem.
