Finally picked this up since it went on sale. Anyone have any mod recommendations for first time playthrough? Mostly looking for appearance changes (preferably nigger removal), not shit that's going to break the game or make it easier. Though if there's a huge QOL mod that'd be cool too.

Most recommendations I can find with light searches are gay and recommended for the wrong reasons.

Thanks in advance.

Mods you won't find on Nexus are found here on MODHQ. You do need a MODHQ Account to see and use these mods though. Rusty, the site owner, is keeping the website on lockdown against raiders and malicious entities still. As far as I am aware, at least.

There is also Based Mods but they have less of a selection that I can see, and most of them are inferior re-uploads. Either way, MODHQ and BasedMods are where you're going to find most of your black market modding that isn't allowed on Nexus because of their impudent jannies.

Here is a list of mods that I've seen in action and have been recommended by others.

No Alphabets - Gets rid of all the Fag and Troon Alphabet Stuff you'll experience. A work in Progress that updates with the game.

Better Aesthetics - Fixes up the faces and races of Fae'Run so they fall in line with DnD sensibilities. De-Nigs the majority of the population too as far as I am ware.

Immersive Heads - De-Nigs the character creator and the pre-made heads you can choose from. Makes most people European standard of beauty.

Better Romance - Lets you fix up romances how you want. Turn off homo romances. Turn off romance entirely. Up to you.

Dignify - Cleans up the Ladies of Fae'Run so they're less "Modern Slutty" in appearance.

Character Creator/Polymorph De-Blacker - De-Nigs your character creator and polymorph potions.

Wylls of Toril or Alternative Wyll - Two de-niggerification mods for Wyll, the only black companion you pick up.

White Allandra The Grey - De-Nigs an NPC that is a fugly negress for no reason other than diversity points.

Shadowheart Tweaks - Makes Shadowheart look less masculine and trannyish.

Karlach Resculpted / Valkyrie Karlach - Makes Karlach, a companion you can pick up, less of a mystery meat Asian and more of a Buff Nordic Woman.

Male Narrator - If you don't particularly care for the female voice actress who narrates the game. Based off the Civ5 narrator.

Achievement Enabler - Because Steam and GOG turn your achievements off if you mod the game.

Add in some Lists From Reddit, and Polygon and a QOL ModPack to check out for QoL improvements. From "Mark this book as read" to "Better UI" and finally better "Inventory Management."

Hopefully this helps!

Time to put me on suicide watch boys, I failed another honour run at exactly level 4.

After an appropriate amount of sulking I opened my current "for fun" save which reminded me of something maybe interesting I wanted to share? Similar to my previous experiment with avoiding Shart at all costs, I tried avoiding Jahiera. My party entered Act 2 through the Mountain Pass so I had the opportunity to avoid triggering the Harper vs Shadows battle, and I never even passed by Last Light.

Killed the Nightsong. Climbed the side of Moonrise to get to Ketheric. Bing bang boom. No Jahiera.

Except she was still in my camp. Not during the Act 2-3 transition with the Emperor reveal, but during my first long rest in Rivington. She was present and had dialogue as if we stormed Moonrise together and all that. Then, after entering the lower city, she left. In my inventory spawned a backpack which held only a Harper's pin and a goodbye letter which reads:

"I am not one for goodbyes. I go in search of my friend. Perhaps you will call it selfish and short-sighted to think of one life among the thousands threatened by the cult. Perhaps I would even agree. But go I must.

Know that we share the same goal and though our paths part for now I hope to meet you again at our destination.

Good hunting.
J."

Genuinely curious to know what would have triggered her leaving like this under normal circumstances.

Edit: Also wanted to mention that if you avoid the circus, the journo squad just accuses you of "raising Absolutist activity via your arrival", in case anyone was wondering about that.

I need to finish my Dark Urge run so I can make a new character and do good things to make up for this run. lol

It's fun to have one of my companions be all like, "I have achieved my goals! Now my life can be great!" and I'm just over there like, yeah. Enjoy that 'cause me and Bhaal are going to turn this whole world into hamburger!

I managed to not have to deal with Wyll or Karlach by just avoiding them completely in Act 1. Did not speak to either of them even once, nor the guys that want me to kill her for them. I miss the sword I can get from there but I knew I wasn't going to be able to actively murder Mama K.

Currently Jaheira (whom I've barely spoken to) is just chilling in my camp, innocently waiting for the moment I embrace my potential and then she shows up and fights me.

Soon.
💀

doing my first playthrough, went with a Wizard Githyanki for my custom character, trying to infiltrate the Goblin Camp to kill all the leaders is a bit annoying, the Priestess is easy if you let yourself get imprisoned, the Red Demon dude was fucking irritating because there was no real way for my party to take him out without alerting everyone else, tempted to reload a save to try to get better equipped.

Fighting Dror Ragzlin aggros the whole goblin camp, I always save him 'til last.

After killing Orin my Bhallspawn, Dumb Bitch, was wearing her armor.
While it looked nice on Orin it was a bit silly on the big boned human.
In the scene where the Emperor saved her from being smooshed by the Brain like Gortash, there was a very realistic wardrobe malfunction and it looked like the armor had slid down in the front. (shoulda taken a screenshot but I was too busy laughing) So undignified!

Last night I finished my Durge run.
Betrayed Orpheus, enslaved the Brain for Bhaal, told dear Shadowheart to run from me once we landed. Much blood, very death.

Now to make a new character who will do all the good stuff to make up for it.
(I still might avoid Wyll as I'm still irritated at him from my first game for trying to get us to dance. I was raised Baptist, we don't do that. lol)

ill keep that in mind, I reloaded a save to go level up first, a lot of people are saying level 3 is too low to start the goblin camp and I now see why.
The trick is to sneakily disable the drums and gank each group at a time.
Time to put me on suicide watch boys, I failed another honour run at exactly level 4.
Right before the lvl 5 power spike.

Why not play origin Wyll? Warlocks will be fun for a Baptist to play, and you'll have half-devil Mizora as patron/middlemanager.
Character Creator/Polymorph De-Blacker - De-Nigs your character creator and polymorph potions.
I mostly polymorph to commit crime, Larian really didn't think their performatary wokeness through.

Thanks for sharing fren. I'm trying to add them to my game (sailed the 7 seas for it) and am trying to set up almost all of the mods except for the swapped narrator, but I'm having trouble setting them up. Only setting up the no Alphabets batch as active gets them instantly set as inactive. And trying with just the Wyll race swap or the Shadowheart tweaks, it does seem to stay active, but it breaks behavior of the game since suddenly cutscenes don't trigger.

So, are the mods intended to be used on a clean new game and that's why I'm having issues due to loading in a started one? And is there anything I should be aware of when setting up the no Alphabets mods?

These are the ones I'm trying to set up

And I downloaded this version of the game from FitGirl https://fitgirl-repacks.site/baldurs-gate-3/

[Questions about modding]
You'll have to reach out to someone else in the thread fren, I have not modded the game, I have only watched other friends run through with the mods. I do not know how any of the set up works as I have not gotten around to modding myself yet. (Am currently unable to play the game due to being potato laptop bound.)

I am sorry I cannot be of more help, I hope someone else in the thread can offer some insight to your questions.

No worries, guess I'll have to swim through the threads then.

I really fell in love with the game. But man, if you want to play the good route, you're exposed to a lot of homo I've noticed. There's at least 5 different NPC couples who are faggots. I'm not even done yet so I could be missing more.
This world is giving me the "everyone is pansexual" vibes.

Planning on my next playthrough to be dark urge. Some people theorize that the dark urge is the canon 'main character' route or at least the closest thing to one.

I'm on my fifth playthrough, this time I am a Very Nice person to make up for my last two Dark Urge characters.
I still wish we could get Sazza to be in our camp. She could just hang around and annoy Withers, it could be great, but noo.
So far I've made it through the tiefling party without anyone climbing my leg. (well several tried)
I did steal Shadowheart's underwear, because it looked better on me.
My character, Tavernica, is a dwarf and their drawers are not exactly haute couture.

Update: The sheer amount of faggot NPCs has gone up past 10. There's some assuming troons and a Drag Queen.

This game could have been perfect if it weren't for that.

I ended up spoiling myself with the possible endings and I think I'm going to side with The Empire first. I know he's not exactly a good guy, but I find his story and mind flayers in general, to be pretty cool and interesting. I like him as a character and how he blurs the line a little with the nature of Illithids.
Although, I ultimately feel that he's still the usual illthid; manipulative and self serving. What threw me for a loop is that the developers or at least the voice actor for The Emperor confirms that he has genuine affection/romantic feelings for Tav. Makes you wonder a little more over their nature. The developers did a good job at that, I think.
I don't doubt he has actual affection for the player character but it's obviously in a way that is...well, illthid.

After his ending, I'll go for freeing Prince Orpheus. Lae'zel can be the new leader of the githyanki.

For real though, this game has done a great job making me fall for all the companions and some other characters. It's just legitimately painful to see it stained by the alphabet soup cult.

Part of the reason why I prefer playing evil; you get to make Baldur's Gate a significantly less faggy place.
