With luck Larian might uncancel that DOS2 sequel and actually deliver something. Fucking hell Larian, don't leave the series hanging like that.
I just hope whatever it is it has a better AI system than dragon age origins. Daddy needs to beat the shit out of some dark elf strippers while my gank squad shanks it's pimp and the resident mage casts suicide bombing. All while my only input is punching the stripper. Also in real time.

Getting tired of turn-based.

And this might be unpopular but I wanted Larian to make DOS3 instead of Baldur's Gate 3. 5E DnD doesn't translate well to a video game and I've realized I'm not a fan of 1 action 1 move systems like xcom and such in comparison to AP systems.

I'm replaying DOS2 and I generally agree. I think a more refined version of their system is better than BG3's overall. Only thing I fucking hate is the goddamn armor system. Probably gonna mod it to be like DOS.

Something about the world of Divinity is also better. Not sure I can articulate it, but I think the writing of BG3, character quality and a refined combat system would be a dream game for me. I'd also love to see Larian do a Star Wars RPG. They'd break the gaming industry if they did.

I have to ask, would any of you say that the massive success of this game discredits the notion that woke = broke?

Like, every time I see a game that so obviously has DEI and the like flop, leading to people pointing out that this is why that crap doesn’t work, the others always point to BG3 as evidence that that claim is full of crap.

I despise to use the word "woke" because the definition is ever changing and makes trying to argue if a game is "woke" or not like mud wrestling a pig.

So, let me tell you how I look at it.
The first type, is a social and/or policial modern message that is being delivered in the form of a game. This is the category that fails and goes broke
The second type, is a game that usually good and happens to be have modern audience elements in it, for some reason.

So, from my point of view, the claim is true to some degree, as long as you make that key distinction.
Are the woke elements part of the game or is the game a vehicle for the woke elements?
Makes sense?

I think there's a few reasons for this:

1) Larian does not seem like they set out to tell a woke story first, and a good story second. They clearly have elements of wokeness in the game, but almost all of it is background shit. Is there a tranny in the game? Sure, but I didn't even know the main tranny was one until someone told me. Unlike other recent games that are telling a leftist story first, good story second.

2) Presentation of woke. Like I said, there are woke elements in the game but they are background stuff. This is the way to go if you want to subvert the culture. We see this with almost every movie and show since the mid 2000's. Friends did a "great" job of normalizing gayness but still kept in line with the culture at the time. This is what I think Larian did overall but I don't even know if it was their intention. I think they wanted to be inclusive but didn't go past that point.

3) Get woke go broke doesn't actually exist. Every major company you know or buy from is woke. Every one. Some companies get backlash but they almost always recover. Sony will write off Concord just like Capcom wrote of Hyenas. The predominant power in control of the culture is still leftist. So until that changes, these games will keep happening.

I think the worst of it is you aren't seeing as many Concords or BG3's. The woke stuff is just mixed in so it creates mediocre games like Outlaws.

Well, yes and no. It is (((banker clan))) like Jude Larry Fink, Jude Soros and their (((ilk))) using big money firms to promote this endlessly, no matter how culturally disliked it is.

Nobody in eastern europe likes minorities, lgbts, immigrants. Yet (((jews))) push them all the time, and we can't deport them.

So it isn't technically the culture, but the (((money))) that controls it.

At least with bg3 you can mod it out or dark urge it if you feel like it.

That, and the LGBT+ characters aren't made "essential" like in Bethesda's games; it's quite possible to kill everyone in the game if you so choose, troons included. So, that's another reason I found the game doesn't get as much hate; there's actual player freedom to do what you want. Granted, it can be a bit difficult at points to kill everyone, but it's still possible, and playing a Durge makes it rewarding, even.

At least with bg3 you can mod it out or dark urge it if you feel like it.

^This, basically.

Patch 7 is live FYI: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/

Intro paragraphs if you don't want to use the link

Hey gang,

Are you ready to embrace evil? Do you yearn to see the consequences of unleashing your inner jerk?

Great! Because Patch 7 releases on
PC
, today! And with it come new evil ending cinematics, along with Honour Mode improvements and new Legendary Actions, split screen improvements, a new way to mod your game, and a whole bunch of gameplay improvements and bug fixes.

Mac and console players, this is one of those patches that is so packed with changes and new features - including official modding support for all platforms - that it’s going to take a little longer to get this patch through all the necessary technical checks and requirements and into your hands. Although later than we originally expected, Patch 7 is headed to console and Mac in October, and we will keep you updated with our progress!

Unfortunately, this does mean that console players will not be able to load cross-saves if they come from Patch 7 on PC - and multiplayer between PC and Mac will not be possible. We are still working on bringing crossplay to Baldur’s Gate 3, and like Patch 7, this requires a lot of work and testing before we're prepared to release it into the wild.

We’ve still got a few more patches up our sleeve for Baldur’s Gate 3 - which will include both crossplay and photo mode, alongside other fixes and updates. But eventually all stories must come to an end. As Swen said during last week’s PAX West panel in Seattle - our final live panel for Baldur’s Gate 3 - it’s time for the team to go back to our cave and hang the armour on the wall while we focus on bringing you our next project.

In case you missed it, you can catch up on the panel here for a fond look-back at the making of Baldur’s Gate 3, as well as answers to some of your most infernally burning questions.

Patch 7 is certainly a big ‘un, and we’ve been busy tackling feedback and game bugs thanks to the help of mod authors who’ve been testing and populating the modding hub, as well as players who have been sharing their experience with Patch 7 during the Closed Beta. Thank you to all of you who had the opportunity to take part. The playtest has now ended and we’ll be taking this experience and carrying learnings from it into the future!

Patch 7 is approximately 11.6GB on PC, and will require 160GB of free space to install. If you find yourself without the space to install the update, we recommend uninstalling Baldur’s Gate 3 and then re-downloading the patched version!

As with any patch, some third-party mods may still become incompatible after our latest update. Please try uninstalling your mods and confirm whether the issue persists without them installed. If you continue to have issues after uninstalling all mods, do reach out to our support team. Please also remember to be patient with mod authors as they make any relevant adjustments to their mods!

We know many third-party mods utilise Script Extender, and as part of the Toolkit and patch testing with mod authors, efforts to help support compatibility with Patch 7 should mean that mods that require Script Extender will continue to work.

A big thank you to Norbyte, creator of Script Extender, and to all of the mod authors who have contributed to the Toolkit with their feedback! We couldn’t have done it without you.

Does this toolkit let you make new maps/modules? If not then it's the biggest nothingburger this side of the Moonshae porch monkey isles. It's been 22 years since Neverwinter nights came in cock swinging providing us with a full toolkit... (That game is far from dead...there's hundreds of players still online in fully modded and sculpted realms)

--edit:
God what a fucking joke. Yay, a new dice skin. Fuck off, thanks I guess? Breakdown available here.

Fully sculpting new stories would be hard without mocapping it, I guess. I would like new maps too, just not sure how feasible they are as a free mod kit.

I'm sad. I just wanted more Minthara content restored.

Minthara is one the worst companion, but one I really like and has so much potential. I don't understand the whole side companions and their choice to include them as companions. They should have just made them temps if they weren't going to flesh them out like the base ones (Shadowheart, Astarion, Gale, La'zel). I'm sure it was a direction choice but still.

This, the physical/magical split did the opposite of their intentions, and forced you to go all in with a particular damagetype.
I enjoyed DoS2 and look forward to Larian's next game. It'll be sweet that Hasbro will get nothing from it.

No, Hasbro would have vetoed it, just like they vetoed the Dungeon Master mode.
I'm still looking forward to the new mods, and plan a new playthrough in a few weeks.

The wokest thing about BG3 is its lack of realworld bigotry. Ketheric disapproved of Isobel and Aylin not because it was homosexual, but because he had personal experience of the pain of a long lived elf losing his shortlived human wife, and saw the same thing with shortlived Isobel dating an immortal angel. Not to mention a priestest and her goddess' daughter being a dangerous power difference.

Another example, Drow are celebrities in the city not lynching targets.
Unlike woke games, no one is seen as superior or worse because of their real world identity group. Making a game everyone can enjoy isn't intrinsically bad.

That being said, Astarion seems to have a lot of Aiden fans, the actor even gave a shoutout to them.
Here's a shoot from a convention.

I really want to do an evil playthrough but I can't go through with it because I love Jaheira and I don't want her to be disappointed in me. *sigh*

I agree. Racism makes a world feel more lived in and it would make the Absolute cult more impactful because they literally do accept everyone. At moonrise towers there is a Loth-sworn drow and Selandrine drow working together. If there's no racism then it makes no sense for anyone to follow the Absolute if everyone is so accepting.

And speaking of Astarion when I first romanced him and it was revealed that he hates kids I got turned off. It's probably better if he hates kids since he's a faggot but he didn't feel any remorse for kidnapping them. And his actor supports trannies so that's another major turn off.

That poor Cazador cosplayer! lol Saw that on tumblr and lol'd.

I got patch 7 up and running, my Durge run that I had just started seems to be working okay EXCEPT that it changed my poor Tavarice's hair! She had a flattering style going, and now for no reason that I can see, she has this stupid curly bob that makes her look like a lesbo librarian, and the mirror in camp won't let me change it!
Currently she's wearing a big floppy hat that I found somewhere. I hope this is just a temporary thing. I don't want to restart if I don't have to but I hate that haircut so goddamn much! lol

Astarion is written yaoi bait.
Twilight and its consequences has been a twinktastrophe for the vampire race.

But Hasbro would in no way would allow racism, even if fictional. The vestiges are there, but clearly toned down. A Loth drow gets the stinkeye in act 1, but it is later dropped.
