The Raphael exploit worked! I got the Helldusk Armor in Act I. Shart is wearing it here, but I've since handed it to Wyll because he was most lacking in the AC department.

The spot where I stabbed Raphael 1000x is now covered in blood:

I'm wondering if the health loss will carry over into the actual fight with Raph in Act III. Would be hilarious if I one-shot him from 1 HP.

I also recruited Minthara correctly this time. Respecced her into a Dex Fighter with crossbows. She looks like a cowgirl now:

Only other thing of note is that Isobel has some unique dialogue for Shart if you're using her to talk to her. Naturally, Isobel doesn't much care for Sharrans and she isn't afraid to be frank with Shart about it either.

Here's hoping I don't run into any saved game problems like my previous Honor Mode.

Hope you are playing as male character. YouTube is festering with Minthara's dyke shit

As far as races and classes go, Githyanki Clerics and Paladins shouldn't be a thing since they don't believe in the divinity of the gods. They'd acknowledge the existence of gods, of course, but never pray to them or swear fealty.

Even choosing Vlakkith as a patron diety doesn't fix this because Vlakkith isn't a true god. She is just a super powerful lich and can't really go about answering prayers like Selune, Shar, or the rest of them.

If you expand your search include all of D&D, all settings and novels and adventures and so on, there's precedent in D&D (from time to time) for (exceptionally) powerful individuals to grant cleric-like spells to followers. Liches, demons, I think I've seen a dragon do it once in some canon work but I might be misremembering that. It's always been part of the whole "what really is the difference between a god and any other really powerful D&D creature" argument.

I suppose metaphysically they aren't the same thing as a cleric, but if the end result is the same, I'm not sure how much it matters.

I can't bring myself to defend divine stupidity in the Forgotten Realms, though.

And it should never extend to Paladins. But then again, Paladin doesn't even mean anything anymore now that they can be other alignments and don't Fall and such. There's nothing special about them anymore.

Even there, I reckon Lolth-sworn Drow shouldn't have Clerics either--at least not the conventional types that players can roll. Lolth would see prayers offered to her as a sign of weakness and most likely respond by covering said clerics with a blanket of spiders.

Lolth has always given her clerics powers. It's just that in the fiction she's incredibly fickle about it and if you piss her off, waste her gifts, or just get too needy she'll take them away (and give them to your enemies, potentially).

Nope, this is a Shart Origin; was curious about the backstory elements there but so far haven't seen much except for the narrator just telling you what Shart is thinking about on a few occaisions. Still, you get some insight into what's going on in Shart's mind whenever her hand glows.

To keep things as straight as I can, I had her romance Astarion since it's pretty much the only way you can save Astarion if you decide not to ascend him. Plus, not a fan of Gale or Wyll except for the fact that Wyll can laser enemies with EBs.

Dark Sun Templars were a priest class that gained their magic through the sorcerer king they served.

Does Isobel keep to the unique dialog if you push Shart to not kill the Nightsong? I noticed she increasingly falls into the wheelhouse of a jealous girlfriend after all that on my Drow Lore Bard playthrough

(also never do a lore bard playthrough on honor mode, nothing sucks more than your main character being limited to crowd control and boosting morale. I swear that was more a Karlach/Laezel playthrough than my actual character, he was passed out in the corner so often)

I'll let you know when I get there. Very interested in seeing how the Gauntlet is when you're a Shart Origin.

I'm asked to go to bat for the Githyanki and it's like, why?
I never felt like the game pushed me to be friends with them. The Creche turns hostile no matter what you do and the rebel faction can be told to fuck off or helped and then told to fuck off. Lae'zel's best ending seems to be her deciding that both The Prince's rebels and Vlaakith's queen should fuck off so she can do her own thing. The game actively rewards you for fucking them over at almost every turn.

So I have a question for those who have played it:

I'm not asking "what class is best" or "what build is strongest", what I want to know is, what role in the party should I pick? Because I'm going to have to sideline the companions who would fill that role. I've made a few characters and played through the intro and some of the crash site/beach area, and I can't decide. I'm kinda leaning towards Cleric, because something about Shadowheart bugs the piss out of me.

This is where I think 'expansion' DLC should happen. Similar to 'evil playthrough' not really having major support, There are some options in the game that aren't explored. Why can't Vlaakith become a major player on the MC side?

You can respec every 'origin' character so just pick the voice actors/story origin you like the most. There are slight 'buffs' each one can receive via their quest line but none of them are really that good so you shouldn't feel like their base class is restrictive.

My first playthrough was a War Domain Cleric. Stats were the following:

Strength - 16
Dexterity - 10
Constitution - 14
Intelligence - 8
Wisdom - 16
Charisma - 10

This is essentially a Wisdom-based Paladin without smites or a fighting style but loaded with Cleric spells and cantrips.

War Priest nets you a few extra attacks per long rest, albeit they must follow your initial attack roll since they count as bonus actions.

The build really starts showing its power potential around levels 5-6. At that point, most of what you're going to be doing is channeling Spirit Guardians and getting up in everyone's faces. This is extremely powerful in Act II because most of the enemies you fight are vulnerable to Divine magic.

War Domain has Guided Strike which, more or less, turns any miss into and automatic hit. This only affects your character at level 2, but at level 6 it affects all party members.

Feats were fairly straightforward. At level 4, I took Alert since my Cleric's Initiative is low at only 10 Dex. At levels 8 and 12 I took the API feat two times, bringing my Wisdom score to 20.

A lot of build guides recommend at least 2 Fighter levels so you can pick up a Fighting Style and Action Surge, but I went pure Cleric just because I didn't want to pass up on any Level 6 spells.

Above all, remember that despite being more combat-savvy than other Cleric subclasses, your character's primary role is still a support unit. Guide strikes, heal peeps, and buff where appropriate.

If you want to experience all the kahntent in the game I recommend doing a CHA-based character instead (paladin, sorceror, warlock, bard). Being the faceman talker opens up a lot of possibility for you, and allows you to sometimes bypass entire encounters. Spec whatever chosen companions into combat roles to support you instead. (Easy pick is just picking Astarion/Lae'zel/Gale for the two martial/two magic combo.)

Does anyone know why Raphael and Mol don't play chess anymore after the recent patches? I need this for my inspiration point grind. I heard that it was because it was kinda pedophilic or that it's a bug on Larian's part because the new way to recruit Minthara messes with Mol's npc behavior.

Do Gale and Frog Lady have any events in act 2? I'm pretty sure I got the plot events for the rest of cast but nothing specific to those two.

Don't know why it would be pedophilia. Even if it was, Raphael is the devil anyway so its not like he cares. If anything it would be one more reason to hate him and refuse to help him.

Either way, I also noticed the chess game no longer happens. Beyond cheating through Sleight of Hand or praying for divine intervention, was there any other way to ensure Mol won?

Creche for Lae'zel and the meeting with Elminster for Gale.
