Was playing some Neverwinter Nights a bit and thought about how much I miss the weapon variety you have there versus BG3.

Really wish you could use scythes in BG3, particularly as a weapon drop from Myrkul.

Also, does anyone remember the Kensai subclass? It was a Fighter subclasses where you gain really powerful weapon attacks at the cost of the ability to wear armor. Was fun to essentially go shirtless wielding a katana in some playthroughs.

With the release of this modpack, even the most hardened tranny-hating kiwi can enjoy this game.
The only thing I ever heard about this game from the press is how many blacks, fags and trannies are in it and how progressive it and heccin wholesome it is is so I steered clear.

Then I heard about a modpack that removes all the anachronistic elements and vaguely considered trying the game, but now apparently the mod has been taken down? Is it still available in the original link?

yeah, here and here

Scythes top my list of "cringiest RPG melee weapon", but to each their own. Kensei is a monk subclass in 5e. Pretty sure there's a mod for that.

It's a monk subclass now. Not in PHB and whatever modules Larian bought. It's essentially a duelist with a built-in smite. No spamming multi-smites to burn all your ki though. Might be more apt to say it's a rogue/swordsbard

Less functionality, more it makes my character look like the Grim Reaper.

Statistically, I think it was the best Large weapon in the NWN games with its crit potential. My favorite weapon to equip my Half-Orc Barb with.

Gamers love goth waifus.

We certainly do. Based goth waifus for the win.

But on a serious note - I do find it ironic that the closet thing to a "traditional" romance option is by and large the most popular. It's almost like the vast majority of "gamers" are straight white males. Fucking bonkers I know. Something devs like Bethesda outta remember instead of annoying MILFs.

On another serious note - I know a woman who plays this game and complained about the lack of "traditional" straight female romances compared to Shadowheart. Gale is a bit of a beta in presentation or he tries too much, Wyll is a black cuck and no one likes him anyways , and Astarion is clearly gay.

Beat Like a Dragon Gaiden yesterday, so I started my Oathbreaker Redemption Durge playthrough. Also using it as an attempt to try and start streaming.

Went with a female Duergar and got through the character creator and prologue.

I think it's a bit of a shame Shart's voice actress didn't get nominated at the awards, for what little it matters. Her performance felt most dramatically grounded in the story, and the least reddit meme, Marvel quippy. I'd blame basic woke, but tbf it seems like Astarion's va directed loads of mocap and did npc performances as well, so seems to be for overall work commitment as much as anything. Everytime I try to have Astarion in a playthrough he just seems goofy and without much gravitas. Maybe that's just Larian though.

Astarion’s more serious moments and everything are more loaded towards the second half of the game. Right around the time Raphael makes the offer to translate his back scars is when he start getting more serious stuff and not him just playing things up as a “mask”, so to speak.

Really just wish they really played up how obvious of an act this was.
I think they did in EA too, "Astarion disliked that" got spammed a lot back then but he never got to negative disposition.

Also am I mixing it up with pathfinder but aren't vampire hit die supposed to be CHA-based not CON-based, thrall/spawn or not?

I think the hints I got about it being a mask in Act 1 was when you meet that guy trying to hunt him down and Astarion brings up Cazador for the first time.

There’s also a bit you can read into when he first reveals he’s a vampire. They way he talks about needing blood sounds like him being real with you.

None of them are perfect, but I'm surprised having three non-monster men to one non-monster woman isn't enough.
When it comes to the female dominated world of fanfic, Astarion is by far the most popular, Wyll and Halsin the least.
