Okay, I'm guessing a mod is responsible for this? I'm not sure...

Also off-topic; is that anime any good? Never paid any attention to it, myself.
The first season is actually pretty damn good, and it's not nearly as gratuitous as the pearl clutchers memed it to be back when it first came out. It's worth a gander, but I'm a fanboy for the series so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. Also would stereotypically recommend the subs instead of the dub.
I have to ask: what's an anvil in this context?
She's flat chested and flat assed. So Dwarf Shaman constantly calls her an anvil to tease her.
First season is, yes. Second season meanders and doesn't seem to have much of a story planned out as the first.
2nd season was a let down story wise. Lot of things missing from the manga compared to S1, and it felt very rushed overall.
What's everyone's thoughts on the guy, anyway? I admit, not all that fond of him due to the whole "bear sex" thing, but I'm curious.
Hes a nothing burger character to me. Offers nothing until act 2 and he's not even a particularly interesting companion once you do get him. You spend the first half of the first act saving him and the only thing he gives you is obvious as fuck information about going through the underdark/mountain pass to get to the shadow lands. And then act 2 is just him trying to save some kid he was friends with as a boy where you, again, do all the heavy lifting. And the kicker is the boy isn't even the one who heals the land and lifts the curse like youre told he will. Nightsong does that when you free her, so that whole thing ends up feeling pointless.

Overall he feels like a meme who's only in the party because BEAR SEX was a great marketing tool and I assume EA players had a hard-on for him.

They also had a mandatory "beach" episode which made me think they were just going through the steps. Just doing fanservice things now. Disappointing.

That part is even in the manga, and it's definitely just fanservice. Probably some of the most gratuitous fanservice at that point in the story since it doesn't serve any purpose. Which is saying something because theres quite a bit of it in the series as is. Hell even the bathhouse scene with priestess and sword maiden has a narrative purpose. The river scene is just "the gang is ambushed by goblins, now the girls are in bikinis and then they splash around a bit".

What's really disappointing is they omitted the intro to this part of the story, even though it's probably the most "holy shit" moment the goblins have at this point

First season is great, second yeah too meandering. The dwarf shaman calls the elf girl an anvil because she is flatter than a loli.

With how the first season ended, what I thought was going to happen was GS was going to open up more, basically start trying to live life outside his armor, so to speak. Instead, what they're largely doing is Flanderizing his character, having him repeatedly say things like, "I see" and being completely oblivious to the feelings of all the women crushing on him. This was quaint in S1, but has become tiresome over time.

There's also been far less focus on GS's clever tactics. Seems to me they're just brute forcing most of their quests now in standard Shounen anime fashion.

Pretty typical anime adaptation issue, yeah. Feels like they're trying to make it more palatable/mainstream to distance themselves form the "controversial" reception S1 got.
The manga does a better job at this, unsurprisingly. More inner monolog from Slayer and more moments of him genuinely trying when it comes to understanding others feelings, particularly when it comes to Cowgirl and Priestess.

But I don't wanna shit the thread up with too much Goblin tism, even though it seems this game doesn't really offer much in the way of conversation topics besides the usual complaints and nitpicks kek.

Speaking of nitpicks, what's with the lack of gear diversity in this game? Feels like I've been rocking the same armor and weapons since early act 2/Late Act 1. Not to mention that so many items share the exact same model as the most basic common gear despite being "very rare", with maybe a slightly different hue to the metal. Plus half the shit just doesn't seem to match very well. Even with the armor dyes, which can be a total crap shoot anyway, it's hard to really Fashion's Gate with what we're given. As far as medium/heavy armor goes anyway. Pretty easy to style with robes and light armor though.

I've been using the same special heavy and medium armor for myself and Karlach since Grymforge furnace, and it's the kind of armor where you can't even dye it to look meaningfully different because of the Mithril. The lack of variety in weapons is also gay. None of the greatswords feel like greatswords, or perhaps Cloud and Guts have altered my perception of them. Other weapons feel like just a matter of which tint the halberd or sword is.

Some of the gear makes no sense with regard to how the classes and subclasses work. Like Shart's entire Dark Justiciar set seems like it's made for an Oathbreaker or War Domain spec...except that it's Medium Armor and is outclassed by many of the Heavy Armors in the game. Nothing about the Dark Justiciar armors feels like it compliments the Trickery Domain (which is alresdy severely underpowered compared to other domains).

Both the Shar and Selune spears which are central to Shart's quest feel vastly underpowered compared to Blood of Lathander which you obtain from a side quest.

The Adamatine armors and weapons feel weak for the amount of time and effort put into getting then and they get replaced fairly quickly when you arrive at LLI and Moonrise.

The Emperor's armor and gloves seem like thet compliment Great Old One Warlocks except for the fact that you're obligated to multi-class or take armor feats just to wear them. Otherwise, you might as well just wear the Helldusk Armor instead.

Most of the Medium armors in the game are lackluster save the few that remove Dex penalties. That's fine for Rangers, Rogues, and Bards, but any Cleric subclass not sporting Heavy Armor proficiency is left hanging.

There are two legendary maces and two legendary greatswords in the game while there are zero legendary longswords or mauls. Despite being blue rarity and +1, Phelar Aluve is probably the best Longsword in the game. Shame you can't upgrade it to +3 in Act 3.

(By the way, if you're a Cleric Eilistraee, you get special dialogue tailored for your character when you retrieve Phelar Aluve from its pedestal).

I also wish that the bonus damage Balduran's Greatsword receives from your Strength modifier would switch to Charisma if you made it your Pact Weapon.

Yeah the weapon layout is pretty strange. I just take heavy armour proficiency for most classes.

The astute or cute voices they gave them annoyed me. It was an example of, "lets give these giant lizards tiny cute girl voices, won't that be funny," type of thing. I want them with lizardman voices that fit their skull shapes and lizard nature. Small nitpick, but irritating.
Maybe its a carryover from Larian's previous game with posh lizardmen
Talking generally, it seems only Laezel's actress (Devora Wilde) actually bothered doing a fantasy voice. Astarion's actor gets a lot of praise, but he just uses a plumier version of his normal voice. Ketheric's actor (JK Simmons) seems to be the only Yankee in King Arthur's court. Ethel's actress is English but does a perfect Irish accent.
There’s a saying about dwarven women. Their thighs can flatten steel!
I really don't like BG3's designs for dwarf females. They seem too slender and humanlike, at least compared to the stout and stocky dwarven men. [autism] Dwaves are medium creatures, they weigh the same as adult humans.[/autism]

The gloves don't need proficiency to use. The armour is useless for a GOO Warlock as they get fear immunity naturally.

You are right, Blood of Lathander is super OP, especially in the shadowlands. Shar's Spear only has a place if you are going a partywide build around Darkness.
Basically if you multi-everyone with at least two levels of Warlock for Devilsight, you all have advantage and the enemy all have disadvantage.

Crit immunity is huge on higher difficulties. Then again, without flying owlbear cheese or silence (and a lot of luck), the golem is honour run endingly hard.

Psychic resistance, yes, but they don't get Fear immunity.
Regardless, I think I associated the mind-flayer aesthetic the Armor gives you GOO Warlocks and the fact that it pairs well with the gloves.

I don't even understand why it had to be Heavy Armor. Looks like something a Mage or Sorc would wear.

Yeah, and the walk trajectory or who the golem decides to chase is also inconsistent. Really annoying fight on Honor Mode.

I applaud Larion for calling out the bullshit in the modern gaming industry at the DICE, but I'm still wary of them. Their characters still have that ugly, shitlib sheen to them that makes me not want to even bother. These faggots are still (what I consider) "woke adjacent", but we'll see where it goes and if they really ARE going to be the "saviors of the Western RPG".

People think this is a Lesbian kiss, but that's completely false. Tongue-in-cheek, what I've told anyone who haven't played the game is that they're missing the context. Here's what my explanation is:

Shadowheart (character on the right) was affected by a paralysis poison that was also killing her and the only way to adminster the antidote was orally. Since she was unable to properly swallow anything, it fell to Lae'zel to place the antidote on her tongue and stick her tongue down Shadowheart's throat. Desperate measures, I know, but since this was a life or death situation, Lae'zel did what she had to.

Later Lae'zel complained that her mouth "tastes like istik." But she has never been one to shy away from doing what must be done. Shadowheart was also grateful, but warned Lae'zel to "never speak of this again."

I like that while playing act 3 I wondered if Gale could commit nukicide during the end of act 2, and saying to myself that no way the devs allow it. Only to later find out that it's a legit speed run strat.
