And its hard to fail with Trials of Mana since its a remake of a quality game.
But fucking up classic games with shitty ports is Square Enix's specialty (Looks at Chrono Trigger's steam port, dragon quest's 1-3 on switch, Secret of Mana remake, FFs 5 and 6 on steam).
Secret is a gigantic clusterfuck of "we need to stay as close to the original as possible/we have a low budget but we still give every single NPC voiced lines/ who directed the sountrack or did everyone just composed with their asses?
SoM remake comes off like a weird mobile port that was made console exclusive last minute.

The engine it's on was for mobile, however it was also the second remake. Adventures of Mana was also made using the same engine and that too was released for mobile and the vita.

While the graphics do looks cheap it functions mechanically the same as the originals for the most part, enemies have a tendency to take too long to clear the screen after they're dead.

The main problem with that remake is it's sound track, visuals are underwelming but the music really is the main fall of SoM R. I have no idea what they were thinking with that cacophony of noises.

"I'm gonna say this is thank you so much Yuji Naka and Balan Company for this game. it had become an important part of my heart in the past months, A source of comfort I get back to. You created a masterpiece sir and I’ll forever be thankful for this from the bottom of my heart.

Despite hearing the devastating news today, I will still continue to show my support for Balan WonderWorld and my other favorite games without them I don't know what would happen to me.

Anyway I would recommend checking out Balan WonderWorld or give it a chance thank you guys and gals." -DelightfulDiamond7

The amount of genuine fans for this game is just bizarre, I wonder if it's like a Fnaf situation where most of them haven't even played the game.

----Description----
"No. I don't care if you actually liked one of the three games represented in the back. No. I don't care that the Internet has suddenly deemed Yooka-Laylee as a great game. This was purely meant as a joke to take the piss out of nostalgia grabs, which seems to have gone completely over everyone's heads. I understand that you may have an opinion on this that counters my own and that's perfectly fine but what isn't fine is denigrating my days worth of hard work just because you feel the need to drop an obligatory "ACTUALLY" comment because of said opinion. I did this purely for fun but I'm getting pretty sick of people basically deeming it to be a poorly done picture just because of a difference of opinion. Either critique the art or keep it to yourself."

God damn this is savage, I know the guy who made this makes weird ass fetish art but man.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=HwTzSmxhEGcRerez made a video on it, tought it'd would be relevant.
It was a pretty good video, they brought up points and things that I didn't see in other videos.

But just like every other video I've seen of theirs, they say some really retarded things like how they complained about the palette swaps like they have anything to do with the game's quality or is relevant at all. The palette swap thing isn't new so I don't know why they brought it up in the first place.

Also, the whole "the game is not designed as well as the first 3 Sonic the Hedgehog games, which is surprising considering who is involved" ending line which just speaks for itself.
i do agree that the palette swap point was pretty dumb tbh, like it was obviously meant to be only 2 characters with varying default looks like in the later Pokemon games when they introduced character customization.

and tbh i do think the first 3 Sonic games were very well designed, specially 3, i think most people bitch about not being able to respond fast enough but that's why the roll exists, plus i think people only want to go fast when Sonic requires some "caution" when traversing the levels, aswell as good reaction times. making it not different than say... Megaman for example. (although it's still easier than Megaman obviously)

My point wasn't that they are bad, I mixed Yuji Naka with Takashi Iizuka and thought they went on to make Modren Sonic trash.
(Tbh tho he still worked on Shadow the hedgehog lel)

The dude seemed to leave after the Dreamcast era so that's a good thing but the fact that they bring up Sonic 1-3 (and only those games) but not Nights is kinda dumb but still not as retarded as I originally thought, my bad.

i think Naka left arround Sonic 06 to be specific.and i guess it has to do with the fact their Sonic & Balan are both platformers while NiGHTS is more of a weird arcade thing

I wish this game was good, I dig it's artstyle (despite the weird looking farmer guy but even he has charm)

It's Blinx: The Time Sweeper all over again, another 3D platformer from former Sonic devs with a fun artstyle and interesting premise that fails to deliver.
I think I liken Naka to Rare in that both made games I loved as a kid, and I can’t help but have a flicker of hope that they will one day return to their glory days even though the past 20 years basically shows that’s not going to happen.

Lmao, here's an alternate headline: "known ego-driven asshole blames everyone for abject failure except himself". Also the gall of him saying that Squeenix doesn't care about games (which on one hand, fair) after the shit he's pulled is hilarious.

EDIT: haha holy shit "According to court documents, I was removed as the director of Balan Wonderworld for 2 reasons. It was done by the producer, head of marketing, head of sound, managing director, and HR."

I don' think "every person in a position of power banded together to get me the fuck out of there" is the dunk he thinks it is.

I honestly don't get the savior complex people give this guy, it's almost as bad as Kojima. Everything he did after Genesis Sonic and Nights on Saturn has been a downhill of shit. FFS, his own company Probe after he left SEGA was a failure and that was him with NO restrictions. That's a GIANT hint that maybe he should call it quits and not be called upon for other projects.

Not to mention how he purposefully sabotaged Sonic X-Treme because he wouldn't lend Sega Technical Institute use his NiGHTS engine, threatening to leave the company if SEGA did so....which he did anyway a decade later. This, in turn, caused two of the developers of X-Treme, Chris Coffin and Chris Senn, to literally fall sick during production:
Coffin, who had been working nonstop to get the project out, came down with pneumonia. Around the same time, Senn was hospitalized due to illness brought on by his own absurd work hours.
Yeah, fuck Yuji Naka.
